Slough v Merthyr replay

Recommended Posts

Yeah great job from the lads getting into the next round. It was a good contest last night with Merthyr starting well until we scored against the run of play. That seemed to settle us and we played some good stuff with Charlie Moone having a very good first half, maybe his best in a Slough shirt. Both goals were very well worked and the second came at a great time just before half time.

Second half was less entertaining but a professional job from us. Whenever Merthyr did break through Scotty was excellent as usual. On the balance I think we had the better of the game and deserved to go through. What a save from their keeper in the second half from Togwell (who was my MOM).

COYR!

I agree with all that you say in your post ,Stuntman Mark.

Lee Togwell has proved to be an excellent signing [better than I expected] and last night he did indeed have a great game. His game has developed over the years and to his credit he's become a clever reader of the game, in that he knows when to keep things simple and when to hit a long pass. His audacious chip proved this to a tee. He's improved with the run of games he's got in the team and his tackling has got better because of it.

Though for me, I thought Paul Stonehouse, Guy Hollis, Mark Nisbet ran him close for the Man of the Match award.

Charlie Moone looks like he's coming back to form, too, which can only be good for our goal scoring.

What's happening with Gavin James, thought he would be back by now? Thought he would have been a good sub for last night.

My guess, and it is only a guess, is that he/they want him to be available for next week when we have two games on two days, Tuesday and Wednesday, and not risk a return to play injury last night
