Up the Reds

Seeing the post about the Guildford city book reminds me I must make sure by copy of  "Up the Reds" The history of Redhill football cub 1894 - 1994 by Brian Thomas is kept in pristine condition, not a mark on it and never had the pages opened fully so its like new, reports of a copy that sold for £50 so sort after, helped by a very good review from one of the national news papers if I remember right, Carthorses dad sold it to me when we worked at the same firm in  Hever road.

Spotted yesterday a copy on ebay up for £19 :99p, nowhere mint but not many that come on the market

After all this time has past there is one page in the book that still brings back memories, the page dedicated to Kevin Stevens who came up through the ranks to claim his place in the first team with distinction not only as a player but when many would be thinking would a match be on, Kevin would be out on the field with a fork or a barrow load of sand trying to get the game on.

Then came that horrific day and Kevin was gone.

Have signed copy from Brian Thomas as I helped him with much of the book and history, shame the club was so friendly and nice in them days, Dad sold them all they even did a reprint. My few weeks old son Tristan even gets a mention and he is 22 now! Whats your real name burger and I will let dad know, rememeber him working in Edingbridge.

I used to stand with you behind the goal scoffing burgers back in the day when you were ringing the bell when we scored?

Used to be friendly? I remember when someone at Redhill turned down some old Redhill stuff on offer. He's now luckily at Horley, Kiln Brow is a much friendlier place to watch football.

Yes John Park turned down loads of stuff and throw stuff in the skip, thought he always lived in Horley not from what I have herd
