15th November v MK Dons AND Northwood

Hi Guys,

Just thought I would let you know that subject to a few scenarios (MK dons not drawing this weekend in the FA Cup, and us not drawing at Merthyr), we have decided that we will play both these games the same evening.

The reasoning behind this is that if we don't we will lose another midweek league game at Stratford (as the league cup takes preference) and this was not something we wanted to do, as still being in 3 cups we do not want to get behind in our league fixtures.

We only realised that this could be done as Chesham are doing the same next week in league cup and county cup, so we went to the Southern League to plead the case.

We will of course be looking to win both games, and putting out a senior side in both games.

I myself will take the MK Dons as Jon is unavailable on the 15th due to a work commitment, with Trent assisting me, whilst Searsy and Bettsy will take the game at Northwood.

We have a large number signed on RR when you include about 5 of the youth team, and one or two others....

We may register one or two others, but the squads will come from what we have, we have worked out two teams in our heads already, and both will be strong enough.

Ambitious plan, hopefully that replays don't mess with it.

Can't imagine Northwood will be too happy with what will probably just be a few travelling fans though.

Really glad you're trying to keep the Stratford game on the 22nd, I've already booked the time off and a cheap train ticket!

Where are you going to send super kev? This may be his nickname, but covering two games at once is stretching it a bit.

we don't call him Super Kev for nothing ha ha...

In all seriousness i expect that Kev will be at Arbour Park, and that we will arrange someone else to go to Northwood, possibly Andy who has done it for us a few times before.

We have discussed this at length myself and Unders, and feel that we are more than capable to cope with the 2 games in one night, and feel it is in the best interests for us in terms of the league and our ambitions.

It was not a decision taken lightly, though a glut of injuries in the next 2 games could cause us a few headaches, however we have enough contacts to cope.

I think ita a novel, bold but ultimately may be an excellent plan. On the way to the Egham game last night we were talking about the prospect of 2 completely different sides on back to back nights with Stratford and Northwood. Same principle applies with games on the same night i guess. Should be an interesting evening.

So many have lost interest in England I doubt any fans would not attend because of that. I'm guessing the stronger squad will play MK Dons as that's the more prestige game plus it's a home in front of a half decent crowd whereas I doubt it'll break 3 figures now at Northwood. But hopefully we can win at least one of the games (although would anyone be overly upset if we exited both?).

Do you think it's possible MK Dons will still want to play the B&B Cup fixture even if they have an FA Cup replay the same night, e.g. fielding a youth team?

I don't think that is an option for them, as they have already told us they can't do the 22nd if the 15th is off(they have a first team game that night but no academy game???)

Given a choice, I would rather win the B&B game if only for the reason that we have the chance of playing Maidenhead in the semis if they can get past Marlow.

As you say Glen, with a decent crowd expected against MK Dons I think this game, and it's only my opinion, takes priority over the Northwood game.
