Rebel Kay
The lads travelled to Oxford City on Sunday making the step up to the Second Division having been considered too strong for the Conference after the last tournament. Four games were played resulting in three wins and a draw. Full report will be on website shortly. Well done to Alan and the lads and thanks to the volunteers who make the day possible. David Carpenter
Most of the team travel by 17 seater mini coach from the Montem on Sunday mornings and are then returned to their individual addresses after the tournament. The finance for the coaches has been provided from some of the funds raised on the charity walk to Dorchester the year before last. So thanks to Kay and the others who participated in that long march. The next tournament is at Oxford City on Sunday 13 November k.o. 10-30am. The coach leaves Montem at 8-45am. If anyone is interested in joining in there should be room on the coach. Please let me know. Two of the teams did not turn up yesterday so there was a reduced programme. Congratulations to Alan Meredith and the team on another successful tournament. Normally 6 matches are played, 7 a side, 12minutes each and we get back to Montem between 3/4pm. There are a whole load of age groups with men, women, boys, girls and mixed teams taking part. Whilst the teams are principally based in Berks, Oxon and Bucks there is a regular attendance from Northampton Town. There was also a team from Wales yesterday. Entry is free and there is basic on site catering. BOBi League is the Berks, Oxon and Bucks Inclusive League and further details on the work they do can be found on their website. After 13 November there is a break until March when a tournament is being run at Great Marlow School (venue to be confirmed) followed by an April tournament at Oxford City and a final tournament at Northampton Town FC in May. The 2017/2018 season then starts next September. COYSTP, COYR!
David Carpenter
As a follow up to this there is an article on the Slough Town twitter feed @sloughtownfc. The photograph shows a Slough Town PALS player in action.
