Rebels v Bognor Regis Town

Kirk - nothing wrong with the praise or the knock of Bognor, we will all have different opinions on the side we play, hey RR ;)

The issue i had with the post was the point you made about "been saying all season we have been crying out for a big striker". I dont think thats the case, big or small, its surely abput ability, especially given the passing and moving style we are playing at the moment as many teams with "big" strikers tend to play long ball type football. Unless of course you meant big on talent ;) and in which case we certainly have one who has that in spades.

Stuntman Mark - 100% right, was thinking about something different when typing, meant Sayer and Mckinnon.

It is not about just being a big striker that matters, as you rightly point out SF,

but I believe that the two best attributes a second striker should have is pace and strength[ie hard to get off the ball] , and it's an added bonus to have height.

Defenders loathe playing against these sort of players as they are a handful to

mark.

I dispute your term 'donkey' as it depends what you can afford and what game plan

you're undertaking, as to how and who you want in your team.

Slough are playing some of their best football for ages and rightly the players

that Bakes and Unders bring in, need to be the right fit for their team.

Donkey defenders and donkey forwards can be useful, if you have the right personnel

to play off of them and your team finds themselves battling for points in the

lower positions of the league table.

Melford Simpson, the Hayes and Yeading striker, you are on about, is a player worth

having in a Hayes team who are just that, a relegation threatened, hard working

team. Currently they do not have the luxury of playing on the best of pitches like

the Slough team can or the chance of playing 'beautiful' football.

So I think it's not donkey's that matter, it's 'horses for courses' that count!
