Rebels v Bognor Regis Town

I had to read my post again, there I was praising the team for a good performance and saying like to keep the lad from Fulham and all I got was flack for it how very strange.

Kirk, there was nothing wrong with what you said until you ended with the little snipe that you didn't rate Bognor.

You are of course entitled to your opinion but as you are perpetrating to be a Slough supporter didn't it even occur to you that it wasn't that Bognor weren't a good team it was more to do with that we were at our best and were far superior to them on the day?

Kirk - nothing wrong with the praise or the knock of Bognor, we will all have different opinions on the side we play, hey RR ;)

The issue i had with the post was the point you made about "been saying all season we have been crying out for a big striker". I dont think thats the case, big or small, its surely abput ability, especially given the passing and moving style we are playing at the moment as many teams with "big" strikers tend to play long ball type football. Unless of course you meant big on talent ;) and in which case we certainly have one who has that in spades.

Stuntman Mark - 100% right, was thinking about something different when typing, meant Sayer and Mckinnon.

Huge credit has to go to the management for not panicking and getting in any old journeyman striker when some people were crying out for a loan signing a few weeks ago. Bringing in anyone when a team is doing well is risky because you can upset the balance of the dressing room and not give the right message of trust in your existing squad . With James , Barney , Gary and Putts needing careful nursing back now was the right time but again only if the right player was available.

I think we can say it was worth the wait.

Elija looks some player. I think, the biggest compliment I can pay him is that he looked more mature than 19 and looked like a Bakes and Unders player. He had touch , positional nous , did not get involved in anything silly , chased back like Charlie and was cool as you like on all 3 finishes. His positional play and support gave us balance we had lacked recently and allowed others to play in the style we have been accustomed to. Looking forward to the next month and not having to rush back anyone and having them all fit and raring to go by the time we say thanks and farewell to the lad.

SF, unfortunately with Kirk, when he can bring himself to give any sort of praise for the team he's supposed to support it does seem through gritted teeth and he has to have a sly dig at our managers or that the team we've just beaten is not very good.

I see on the FA website clubs can agree on extra time and penalties instead of a replay.

With both clubs doing well ìn the league are we going to try for the former if required.

It's very very unlikely that the away side would give up, the reply as it's a chance to get them at home on a Tuesday ,extra time and Pens. in front of the home crowd.  With £3000+ at stake as well.

From a football point of view of course we would not a replay (just in terms of games played), however commercially it wouldn't make sense not to go to a replay with a chance of a home gate etc.....As Mark said it would be giving up revenue, which no club at this level would want to do.

So can confirm we would 100 per cent have a replay if needed, though let's try to make it third time lucky first time!!

Is there a Merthyr Town website that isn't ridiculously out of date?

Edited: never mind, it was just the navigation of the site.. the latest match report section was from our 0-2 defeat there last year or before?!
