Rebels v Bognor Regis Town

Great win, great performance and what a player the striker looks! For an 18 year old kid his stature is that of a seasoned striker, I heard his height and was expecting a bit of a beanpole type lad but wow what a performance!

Well done rebels! Anyone from step 4 at home next round please!

Thought having a decent 9 made all the difference, we were playing a good side and we clearly deserved the win and even if they had 11 for 90 mins I'm sure we would have won.

Only criticism is some players don't pass quick enough though hard to criticise when we play that well.

Glad Lee managed to selflessly quare the ball so Adebayo could get a deserved hatrick.

Looking forward to tuesday.

Sounds like Elijah is some player.

Though, in Slough's case, it 'makes a big difference' just having two fully fit forwards up front, something we've been struggling with for a good while now.

Pee'ed off to have missed the game but so glad we won.

Think Bakes got so excited in his post match interview with JP, of progressing in a cup game, that he bamboozled himself and thought we were going to be playing Conference teams next! ha ha !

Dreams of walking out on the hallowed turf of Wembley, eh Neil ! :D

Unfortunately not but least we're in the next round !

I dont think it would have mattered what side we played yesterday, or whether Bognor has 11, 10 or 12, we were a total class apart and pkayed them off the park. The one goal they did get was a very questionable pen, that even the 2 Bognor fans sitting behind us laughed at as apparently the #10 has a "knack" shall we say of getting pens and free kicks.

I thought the referee was very poor for both sides and the sending off was probably one of only a few correct decisions he made for most of the afternoon. After the sending off and especially after the superb 3rd goal just before half time, the game was over and if we had converted half of the shots/chances we had in the 2nd half it could have been another Ashford.

Credit to Bognor, they still tried to play the ball around, even when down to 10 men, but we were just too much for them.

Nothing much to add on the quality shown by Elijah that hasnt already been said, just looking forward to the next 4 weeks with him in the side as he really is some player.

Yet another game goes by where you could have picked anyone for MoM. Scotty and the defense were outstanding with special mention to Dan Hicks who came in and took his starting opportunity with both hands. Midfield were just dominant throughout with Dobbo showing his class and Nathan Webb also having one of his best games of the season. Charlie Moone worked his socks off and as was said above probably deserved a goal or 2 for his work rate alone.

I would say this performance is up there with some of the best we have seen all season so far and lets now hope for a good draw in the next round, although if we play like we did yesterday we'll beat anyone in the competition at this stage.

Been saying all season we needed a big striker and blow me I was right. Pity we cannot have him all season. Having said that I thought the whole team played well though I did not rate Bognor.

Even though Elijhah is 6' + all the play was on the floor, with all 4 goals from the feet NO headed goals/attempts

So height had nothing to do with it.

RR - the 2 guys sitting behind us were filled with praise for us and rightly so.

Kirk - i think regardless of height, Elijah's quality was what showed through. We were having a conversation on Tuesday night about our great striker pairings in the past 30 years that i have been going with my Dad. We had - Hodges and Boot, West and Mckinnon, Abbot and Owusu and Smith and Dyer as pairings, none of which had massive height but had quality and ability in front of goal, much like Elijah showed yesterday.

To put the height/size arguement into perspective, look at the guy playing for Hayes and Yeading in our return game, he was massive but a donkey. To coin a phrase, size isnt everything ;)
