Rebels v Bognor Regis Town

Should be a great game between 2 teams with so much in common at present Bognor unbeaten in seven games until last Saturday were beaten with no less than five first teamers injured/unavailable This dropped them down to third in their league. They have also seen the need to recruit a loanee In their case another 18 yr old defender from Brighton Looks like a tight game but I think we will prevail because of our home advantage excellent pitch which our squad are getting used to and the huge support we will have (Bognor a bringing one large coach + plus any that come by car.

Very good performance from us today, our best in a while. Bognor looked good in the first 10-15 and certainly had spells in the game. A fantastic debut for Abebayo who scored a brilliant hat-trick but Dobbo was absolutely unplayable at times and might of had 3 or 4 himself but for their keeper and the woodwork. We have a week off now as well to prepare for a tough match with Hitchin.

Another cup game and another great game to watch.

first 10 or so minutes Bognor started brightly and had us pegged back in our own half but we grew into the game and started to settle and keep the ball with some very good passing. It then wasn't long till we got our first and loan signing Adebayo first Slough goal as the ball fell kindly for him from a cross and he drilled his shot hard and low to give Slough the lead. Not long later Dobson made it 2-0 after going on a silky run, passing four Bognor players before somehow squeezing the ball past the keeper from a tight angle. Bognor then got a penalty after a foul from Dan Hicks and got themselves a foothold back in the game. Moments after their goal Bognor shot themselves in the foot when one of their players took his frustration out on Togwell (I didn't see exactly what happened but was told from those who did that it was a deserved red).  With the man advantage we pressed on and dominated the rest of the first half and Adebayo popped up with his second goal and a beautiful volley into the top corner, I guarantee you won't see too many better goals than this one on a players debut. Second half Bognor tried their best to get back into the game with some dangerous low crosses into the box but fortunately no one was on the end of them and any attempts on target they did have Scott did well to keep them out. Adebayo wrapped up the win with a well taken goal from a low cross the get his hat trick.

It was a great game to watch with both teams wanting to play the ball on the ground. There were a couple of great individual runs from Moone and in particular Dobson who seemed to have a fair bit of fun today and tested the Bognor keeper whenever he could.

Togwell and Webb were superb in midfield and ran the show, always there to put a tackle in then didn't panic and played their way out of danger to put us back on the front foot.

Hicks also had a good game today and unlike in recent times he kept his game simple but was very effective to see out the danger and get us back on our way.

Adebayo will get all the attention today after a fantastic debut and showed why he is playing for a championship club but the whole team played really well and all deserve credit for a resounding win.

We played some great football today and scored some very good goals.

First 10/15 minutes Bognor came out firing and put us under the cosh but once we weathered the storm we took control and started to look really dangerous playing some great stuff, culminating with a well taken first goal from Adebayo and two sublime goals first from Dobbo and then from Adebayo with a cracking far post volley from an superb cross.

Second half, against 10 men, we were in total control with the odd dangerous foray forward from Bognor, Adebayo scored the fourth goal for his hat trick and in the end we ran out comfortable winners.

Probably more comfortable against 10 men than it would of been against 11.

Great debut from Adebayo and I really don't think it's a coincidence that with 2 forwards we start banging in the goals again and in the end (being ultra critical) really could have had a few more.

Felt sorry for Charlie Moone because his overall play deserved a goal and but for some excellent last ditch defending from Bognor he would have scored a couple today.

Good performance and great result..... difficult to judge just how good because of the red card.

Roll on the next round (where there are no new entrants, so just clubs from level 7 and 8), and hopefully a decent draw and a reasonable chance of progressing further.

Some people saying they would like to draw a Conference team. Do the Conference, national or north/south come into the next round?

we are now in 2nd qualifying which will have all the teams that have progressed today and those who win in the coming replays

3rd qualifying has the Conf North/South sides

then round after that is 1st Round and that's when Conference Premier teams come in

Thought having a decent 9 made all the difference, we were playing a good side and we clearly deserved the win and even if they had 11 for 90 mins I'm sure we would have won.

Only criticism is some players don't pass quick enough though hard to criticise when we play that well.

Glad Lee managed to selflessly quare the ball so Adebayo could get a deserved hatrick.

Looking forward to tuesday.
