Slough v Dorchester

I would expect the revised guess of Radders for the lineup presuming the loan that was mentioned in an earlier thread doesn't/hasn't happened

quite a few ways we could go about it but whatever we go with I would like to think the boys will be up for it and desperate to put Saturday's loss behind us

Been a bit manic last couple of days so not been able to get an update to the web team.

However we will be without Paul Stonehouse tonight, whilst Gav James and Lee Barney are still missing.

We have been working hard to bring a forward option into the squad, however we have not managed to do that before tonight's game.

We hope to announce a forward from a Championship Club later this week on a months loan, in time for the Bognor game.

Brad Hewitt rejoins the squad after getting a couple of local games in this weekend.

Squad is therefore from the following

Mark Scott, Josh Jackman, Sean Fraser, Nathan Smart, Guy Hollis, Mark Nisbet, Brad Hewitt, Dan Hicks, Warren Harris, James Dobson, Simon Dunn, Lee Togwell, Nathan Webb, Adrian Sear, Charlie Moone and Lewis Putman

The win was all important for restoring confidence Sometimes the mind set is disturbed by a defeat of the type suffered against Basingstoke and this showed tonight But once again we can begin another unbeaten run Lets see if we can emulate our friends from York Rd who are unbeaten in the league for 13 games! I did say at the start of the seeason that I expected some teams to be able to play better football on our great new surface and Dorchester didnt look as poor as their record so far suggests whilst we were not as cohesive as usual.

We made it hard for ourselves by missing 2 tap ins from great crosses but we did eventually get the deserved 3 points. Definitely not our best performance and struggled in the final third but still better than Dorchester who were clearly very happy with a draw and were not too concerned to attack with any purpose, just seemed to boot the ball forward and make their strikers chase after it.

With strapping around his hamstring area it looks like Putts may have picked up some sort of injury tonight.

Certainly hope we can get this striker on loan if Putts isn't fit for Saturday.

The loan deal should be completed today, also Puts did not pull his hamstring again last night, however we need to manage him as there is a weakness there at the moment, and we can't push him, the plan had been to get 10/15 minutes Saturday and start last night, but as we all know due to Togs injury he ended up playing a 80.

A good, workman like performance last night. Seemed like the first 20 minutes was a bit of a hangover from Saturday but once we settled down it was all about getting the 3 points. Could have had more with the 2 good crosses being missed and Charlie Moones half volley in the first half being well saved, but in the end we had our first bit of luck of the evening when it dropped to Guy to sweep home.

Noone is still going to be able to convince me Dorchester are anything but a poor side. 10 men behind the ball and time wasting from about the 15th minute. Was very entertaining to see the muppet #9 Walker throw a right strop after we scored and started to apply some of the same tactics they had been for most of the game.

We need to expect teams to turn up and play a really defensive style against us at home given our home record and overall league position, but it was good to see us create chances and convert a couple for the win.

Have to agree to disagree SF, although not a good side Dorchester were anything but a poor side.

Thought Dorchester did very well all game, particularly stopping us playing our normal game. They started fast too hence the early goal.

Same as Cambridge they sat deeper as the game wore on and were beaten because of that.

Fair to say they aren't promotion contenders at this stage, but it's a very long season..........and they are far from a poor side on that performance.

We started really poorly , clearly confidence hangover from Saturday but got better as the night went on but still way below our norm. We are never going to sweep every team aside in a cascade of flowing football and sides in this league are no mugs wherever they are in the table. Dorchester were strong and organised and put pressure on the ball at every opportunity. When playing well we would have just passed our way through them but yesterday we needed to match them for effort. Individually we worked hard but that spark of the team attacking or defending as a unit was missing. Never mind , got the 3 points.

I think Saturday's result and the manner of it really shook confidence. Important to win last night.

Now it's the managers job to rebuild it in the two cup games. Alex Fergussen always said his job was to protect his team. Sometimes that meant accepting a game was lost and making sure a defeat was just the loss of 3 points and not the loss of confidence that could take weeks to find again. Bouncebackability is what it's all about!

Agree with most comments about not being cohesive. I also think the loss of Paul Stonehouse and with Sean Fraser having to switch sides meant the full backs were not able to overlap as they were earlier in the season.

It was great to see Guy get a well deserved goal but I would have made James Dobson man of the match. He put in three almost undefendable crosses. I was surprised when he re-joined us but am

more than happy to admit I am pleased he did. The flat even surface seems to suit his game and certainly helps keep the ball down on free kicks.

looking forward to Saturday although we will miss Mark Nisbet's experience. It must be a hard call between Dan Hicks and Brad Hewitt.
