Well done to the team for another tremendous performance once again the defending from front to back was top draw.

Superb free kick by Dobbo for the goal.

They did not have many clear cut chances there breakaway chance was one but once gain when needed Scotty was switched on to deal with it.

To have Barny Gavin and Putts back ìn the frame withìn the next couple of weeks will be a big boost for the team going forward.

COYREBELS

No specific time frame of when they'll be back but yes it'll be great to have some forward options available.

Personally, I'd say the way Nathan Smart played when he came on against Dunstable, Nathan Webb was a lucky lad to get the call to start the game.

Don't see that, RR.  Nathan Webb has played 55 games for Slough.

Nathan Smart has made one full start and two sub appearances, so why should he suddenly be our saviour.

Don't get me wrong Nathan Smart looks a very strong resilient sort of player and with his experience worth keeping in the squad, if we can afford him, but to me he's a completely different player to Nathan Webb.

Bearing in mind that we are currently bereft of strikers, we need players who can create attacking moves, so for me Nathan Webb was a better choice than Nathan Smart, not only because he's a pass and move type player in central areas but also for his mobility around the field.

To be honest, the player I thought was hard done by missing out was Josh Jackman.

In all his games he's appeared in so far, he hasn't put a foot wrong.

Him being inexperienced compared with other players on the right side, is costing him a place in the team currently.

He seems the sort of player that Bakes and Unders can mould into the right fit for our team. We shouldn't overlook him just because he's got less experience than others.

Josh to me isn't the finished article yet but he's been a great find by Bakes and Unders.

Getting in the first eleven is no easy feat with how our form is dictating, and no player in our squad can sit on their laurels and think they can walk into the team and stay there indefinitely, which is something we haven't seen for a long time.

For once we have players that can play in any number of positions, so Josh and Nathan Smart will need to be patient for their opportunities to come.

That is such cringey painful reading that I gave up halfway through. A right comedian

I thought it was amusing.

To be fair, Boz points out that Slough are a good side and look like a side at the top, and that the draw was a fair result, which is praise among all the puns.

He's not wrong either, when he says Merthyr have every chance of getting in the top five.

Just because we reside in Royal Berkshire we don't need to have a humour by pass !

It may have been funnier if wasn't full of cliches and old jokes we have heard hundreds of times before. Not offended by it or anything just thought it was a ridiculous waste of time and took away from some actual valid points hidden away in the report.

Smart - started 1 subbed 2

Jackman - started 0 subbed 4

Yet you dismiss Smart for his lack of game time compared to Webb who has played 55 games, only a handful of which at right mid. But say Jackman should start a match ahead of Fraser who has played 183 and is the longest serving player currently in the team.

Smart was a more obvious choice to start than Webb at right mid as he is more natural in that position. Personally I think Webb has been pretty bad at right mid and had been costing us a lot of opportunities during games unlike Smart who had been creating opportunities down the right.

The player who really has been unlucky not to play more is Gokmen !!!

just to clear a few things up, Nathan Smart is a right back by trade, and he has not been playing in midfield for probably about 5 years, reason he came on there in the last two games was due to the fit options we had there, whilst Gurkan Gokmen has been injured and not played in a while, he was due to play in league cup game the other day but got injured, and was only able to train Thursday for the first time in a few weeks.

We thought Webby was excellent yesterday, and we're delighted with his input... In a team that has won 10 and drawn 2 in the last 12 league games.

Regarding the Merthyr Town joker I was the Slough fan referred to regarding the great Dobbo free kick. I was suffering from a stomach upset before the game and decided to stay near the clubhouse just in case. My nasal forest came about due to the fact that a chest infection (healthy bugger ain't I?) was resulting in a deal of violent coughing which made a decent shave difficult. And yes I did have to put up with a whole load of of punditry regarding Mars bars, polish immigrants, Windsor castle etc. However whilst it was a bit boring and not as funny as he obviously thought it was I did not find it particularly offensive. I have to say as per previous visits I found the Merthyr folk I spoke to Friendly and welcoming

The amount of games a player has played for a club IMO should be irrelevant when picking your starting 11.

Didn't Nathan Webb play down the right yesterday? Nathan Smart is a naturally right sided player and IMO Nathan Webb is not.

I'm with you in the respect that I think Josh Jackman is unlucky to be missing out but it's not because of his inexperience it's because the defence is playing so well and in particular the form of Sean Fraser at right back that's keeping him out.

I was in the main satand opposite you DC there supporters were very good always up for a chat and no abusive chanting how going to a football match should be it's entertainment at the end of the day.

They also knew what a top side they were up against.

The report was just a bit of fun, to be honest and it's not like we've never made a sheep joke in the other direction. A good point against a team who I thought may just bring our run to an end. We dug in and kept our run going, so on to the next.

I found the report pretty funny, not sure i'd want what he is taking though!

Nice result and good to get the draw in a side that always plays pretty well against us.. and that free kick was a cracker!

I'm not dismissing Nathan Smart, SRJ. I'm also not saying Josh Jackman should be in the team in front of Sean Fraser, you are misinterpreting what I wrote.

What I was trying to highlight is the fact that Josh Jackman has been with us all through pre-season and since the season started and is a good young prospect.

Reading Rebel made the point that he thought Nathan Smart could count himself unlucky not to be in the starting line up.  I thought he was no more unlucky than Josh Jackman.

When I was referring to the number of games a player has played and the time he's been at the club, I believe that any new player coming into our squad, needs to earn his chance to play for the club. He shouldn't expect to walk straight into a successful team.

As Neil has pointed out Nathan Smart is foremost a right back. He isn't the utility player than Nathan Webb is. I thought Nathan Webb was the right call for yesterday's match.

As for Gurkan Gokman I agree with you. He has been unlucky to miss out on several starts but yesterday for me it wasn't a game to go gung ho and play him.
