Merthyr v Slough

Good luck to all the lads today. Coming away with any points from this game will be a big ask but nothing like taking away some team's unbeaten home record.

Belief in our camp is high, so we have every chance of doing the business.

Two teams on good unbeaten runs in the League; Slough are in fantastic form, unbeaten in 11 including 9 straight wins and a club record 6 consecutive league clean sheets.  Merthyr are unbeaten in 6 (won 2, drawn 4). Merthyr have won all 4 of their home league games this season. They have a number of former Cardiff City players as well former West Ham midfielder Gavin Williams and ex-Southampton striker Kayne McLaggon.

Slough lost 2-0 at Merthyr on the final day of last season, however, the two goals were conceded after losing keeper Mark Scott to injury and Dan Hicks to a red card. Slough won the other fixture last season 3-1 at Holloways Park.

With Merthyr's 100% home record this promises to be a very close, hard fought game.

We are playing with a lot of belief but not sure we can keep relying on a defender or midfielder to score for us.

Defensively we are looking very solid and as long as we keep their top scorer Kayne Mclaggon quiet I think we have a very good chance of getting a result from the game.

What do you reckon? Obviously, I'm hoping for Slough to win, but I have a feeling that this one could be a draw.

To draw away to a good team that had a 100% home record looks on the surface to be very much a point gained as opposed to two points dropped.

Well done to the players and management for coming away from a difficult place to go with a point.

I wasn't at the game so cannot comment on the performance.

That was every bit as impressive a result as the wins we have had. Good teams don't always win but great teams rarely lose. To get the first point of the season off Merthyrs home ' turf' is a real acheivement and to go even further clear at the top is a real bonus.

The run was always going to end sometime but that was about as good a way for it to end as you can have. Well done to the team. Now let's start a new run!

It was a good game and honestly I think we shaded it. If I'm being picky I'd say Nathan isn't suited to playing on right when you compare against warren.

Finally I'd say we do look slightly light up front, by the end Charlie was a lone attacker as warren dropped deeper. If we are going to play 451 then I'd put warren back to the right and let Nathan go back to the centre.

Before the match I would have taken a point. We have been playing way above expectations so far this season and our run had to come to an end eventually, thankfully it came in quite a good way by drawing to a team who probably wont give much away at home this season. Dunstable lost at Merthyr last weekend and I think a few other play off contenders will too. Last year only 2 teams from the top 10 won at Merthyr and only 4 teams from the top 10 got any points at all.

(Leamington, Weymouth won and Poole and Kettering drew)

Definitely was a hard earned point

Tight game with not a lot of chances. Lovely goal from Dobbo to put us ahead with a free kick from distance

Had a great chance to make it 2-0 after some great work by Harris and Webb won us the ball on edge of the box but the shot by Webb was well saved.

Unfortunately within a minute or 2 they equalised from a far post header from a free kick.

2nd half didn't have particularly many chances. Merthyr had one great counter which should have resulted in a shot 1 on 1 but their attacker miss-controled and mark Scott was thankfully able to gather

Best we could muster 2nd half was a free kick by dobbo that was messily put behind by the keeper and a shot from edge of the box that was parried and frantically scampered away

Definitely a good point and as said probably the best possible way for the winning run to an end

Personally, I'd say the way Nathan Smart played when he came on against Dunstable, Nathan Webb was a lucky lad to get the call to start the game.

5 points clear of Leamington but Chippenham have crept that bit nearer.

Well done to the team for another tremendous performance once again the defending from front to back was top draw.

Superb free kick by Dobbo for the goal.

They did not have many clear cut chances there breakaway chance was one but once gain when needed Scotty was switched on to deal with it.

To have Barny Gavin and Putts back ìn the frame withìn the next couple of weeks will be a big boost for the team going forward.
