Dunstable Town v Slough Town

Recommended Posts

A real team effort and thoroughly deserved.

Fairly even first half but I thought we were much the better side in the second half, playing all the football with Dunstable relying heavily on the long ball.

Good performances all round but have to mention the shift put in by Warren Harris.

He was truly exceptional tonight with his all round performance, effort and work rate, IMO it was possibly his best game in a Rebels shirt for a very long time.

COYR!!!!

Agree with you RR, and Bakes, Wazza was superb tonight. Defo MOTM.

Liked that Josh Jackman got a chance tonight even though it was only a sub appearance. Made a good contribution considering he's had so little game time.

Keenly fought contest tonight, with Dunstable starting the game well but we weathered their early storm, to impose our play on them, which bodes well for any tough away games.

Another deserved victory in my book as Slough had the greater possession and had the better attacking intent, in fact Mark Scott had another easy match, as Dunstable lacked in front of goal and rarely troubled Mark.

Credit to our defence but surprised how little they offered up front, considering their league position and it being their home game. They had plenty of huff and puff but little else.

Well done our lads, another great win.

Why are you being pathetic mate???

Gave an opinion! I will choose to not read them in future and will certainly not post an opinion! Sad times!

Calm down Sloughboy. Not worth getting riled about something so trivial.

With our team playing so well, let's try and keep our forum a happy camp, too ! :D

Hold on, who said anyone was talking specifically about you?? Other people had posted similar opinions to you too, it wasn't aimed at anyone in particular, I was only joining in with and responding to a jokey comment that had already been made by GlenSTFC. You are perfectly entitled to your opinion, as is everyone else here including myself. But, to be fair, you criticised my comments/opinions in the beginning. I didn't cry about it, as you are allowed your opinion, I just had a discussion about it and explained my comments as that is kind of the idea of a fans forum - everyone sharing their opinions. As I said, I was only joining in with and responding to GlenSTFC's comment to staines_rebel_Jr, so are you also going to quote Glenstfc, "Well done SRJ that's their team talk sorted...", and call him pathetic for having a joke about comments that might motivate the Dunstable team?? Are you also going to quote Neil Baker's response, "Just to clear a few things up, I would rarely if at all ever use what is written on a fans forum in our team talk", and tell him that you are not going to post an opinion in the future because he disagreed with the comments you said, "I bet Bakes/Unders as an opposing manager read this, they would wind the lads up with it. Just saying!".

I was just having a laugh with the other guys, joining in with the 'banter' and responding to someone who had already made a similar joke. Sorry if I went too far, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. We should all be getting the team and enjoying the current good spell we are having. COYR!!

Great stuff eh! As I said before, we are a difficult side to beat. Going to be another tough away game against Merthyr Town in our next league fixture, they have won all 4 of their games at home and lost only 2 league games so far this season.

Great result, and fantastic how players in the squad can interchange without it having an impact on results....... Harris doing a great job when moved upfront, and Jackman and Smart coming on and playing as if they have played all season.

And incredible when considering Barney, James, Webb and Hewitt were unavailable last night.

Dunstable were never going to hurt us, their long ball game played right into our hands. Their goal keeper needs to be playing for Guardiola, he had more of the ball outside the goal area than most of their players! Launching the ball into the stratosphere every time is not my idea of decent football.

Not a great footballing spectacle last night, but definitely a great win, which as said by others, proves we can win ugly.

Now for Merthyr, not one of our favourite grounds over the years.

Not great deal of chances for either side but we found a goal and never really looked like conceding. One superb clearance by Smart in first half from a dangerous cross and a few header chances 2nd half was about as close as they got.

Once ahead we couldn't quite pick the right pass or stay onside to kill the game off but it didn't matter and we got the win

Leaving the ground a few Dunstable fans agreed the better team won

Once more it was team work and effort levels that ground out the win.

With the players unavailable before game and injuries picked up during the game it shows what great squad options we have. Apart from maybe being 1 short in out and out striker option (in an ideal world) right now I would have no qualms with options we have to come in to replace those unavailable at weekend
