Slough Town v Cambridge City

Recommended Posts

If teams do come to ' park the bus ' then we will be fine. It's OK for a club to,use it as one-off tactic but it only works occasionally ( it did not for Cambridge ). We will still win the majority of games in those circumstances although they may be tight and tense. Take it as a compliment , be patient as we were yesterday and enjoy the attacking moves we put together.

The reason we have only conceded 5 league goals is not the defence or the keepers excellence ( although they are ) it's because 70% of the time we are in the oppos half attacking them. Teams just don't get that much of the ball when we play our high tempo passing game. Defending starts at the front and one of the real features this season has been the work rate of every player when we don't have possession, no heads down no jogging back but real commitment to regaining possession. On skill alone we deserve to be in the top 5 ; what has put us top and clear by 4 points is intelligent hard work.

Only partially agree with you Stan.

I don't think you can say that our excellent record of only having conceded 5 league goals is not down to our defence but down to our prowess going forward. Yes, it obviously helps if you're on the front foot a lot of the time which gives the defence less to do but there are always games against the better teams e.g Leamington, Weymouth and to a lesser extent the smaller teams where our defence has been and will be under a lot of pressure and have come out on top to help win us the points.

I'm sure you meant to say our current goals against record is down to our attack minded team and our excellent defence?

I totally agree but looking on here the last few days you would think we had won before game started from what some were insinuating

As we witnessed yesterday, and with the results we see week by week in this division, every team has to be respected.

If you do not perform on the day points will be dropped no matter where the opposition are in the league table.

I'm not sure that believing your team will win is necessarily disrespectful of other teams.  If we are saying we'll wipe the floor with then yes it'd be disrespectful, teams will always show up (or defend like crazy) against the top performing team in the league :)

It's nice to see more people believing in the team (even when its against teams in the league above us) rather than scared of what the result will be.

These are good times to be a rebel :D

Totally agree with you. It is great to see people believing in the team, and we should enjoy the good spell we are currently going through and make the most of it while we have it. All these cliches about 'there are no easy games at this level', 'we are not taking it lightly', and 'you have to perform well on the day', etc... are the same old stuff you hear managers, players, pundits, and supporters saying week in week out up and down the country. We all know this stuff, it is the basic principles of football (and life in general) that you have to put the hard work in and go out there and perform to best of your ability to earn the rewards. Those cliches are mainly said to be gracious and so that they don't get hammered so much by the media and fans after the game if the team loses. As you said, I don't think that believing your team will win is necessarily disrespectful to the opposition but it is all about how you say it, there is nothing wrong with saying a team who is top the league and in great form should beat a team who is down near the bottom of the table and on a bad run.

Like you said Craig, these are good times to be a Rebel. - Buckle up and enjoy the ride!  :D

I know Reading Rebel and Manor Park Rebel are always airing on the pessimism side of the fence.

At the Redditch game at 2-nil up and less than ten minutes to go there was a funny moment MPREBEL said I still think they will get something out of the game I said you are joking at that instant there player curls the ball around Scotty hits the post and cones out if it goes in the game could of changed instead it comes out and we score two more.

It's great times again.
