Irishadrian
Hayes & Yeading 1 Dorchester 2 This game finished about 6.15 due to a long delay whilst an ambulance was called for a Dorchester defender with a neck injury Very surprised the ref didnt abandon the game
Irishadrian
The injury occurred with about 20 mins of normal time to go. So huge delay.
SloughFlyer
We went to this one and we were also shocked the ref didnt abandon it. With regards to the game, it was fairly cleat H+Y raised their game against us on our return to Slough as they looked terrible. Dorchester were only slightly better and I would rate them as awful. The injury at first look didnt seem out of the ordinary with the Dorchester centre forward defending junped up with a HY forward and the keeper and clearly took a tumble and either landed head first on the ground or on the keeper as the HY forward got up unhurt. The keeper took a good while to get up and the forward ended up heading off to hospital. Can only echo the comments of everyone in wishing him a speedy recovery. Irishadrian
Does anyone know if there are any rules/instructions that refs have to follow if situations like this arise? The delay was 72 mins which seems an unacceptable delay. The local press says players from both teams didnt want to continue but the ref was adamant The Dorset press describes the injury as serious so I echo SloughFlyers wishes that he makes a full and speedy recovery. Irishadrian
The injured player is Nathan Walker who some of us will remember from his days at Weymouth
Neil Baker
The Hayes team wanted to continue, as the keeper had been injured in the same incident, and Nathan Walker was clearly unable to continue and their biggest danger, and having made two subs, meant that Dorchester would be with a keeper who was clearly struggling. Dorchester wanted it off, however by being made to play the remaining game actually galvanised them, and they looked hungrier for the win which they duly got. One thing having watched at Holloways, makes me realise how lucky we are with the new surface, as the pitch was so bobbly today, and made it very difficult to play any football for either side. staines_rebel_Jr
Having looked through the laws in the game their is nothing in there saying the game must be abandoned due to serious injury. Also nothing saying that the game has to be abandoned after a certain delay.

HorshamRebel
From the Dorchester photographer (I know) who was there and on the coach afterwards... Shane and 1 of theirs went for the ball and shane landed on Nathan who landed on his neck i think. Over hour delay while we waited for Ambulance to come sort out (as no spinal board at the ground) and take him to Hospital . He's had scans and was discharged at 10. So we left then should be home 1 sh. Nathan came back on coach shook up but ok. He even said tuesday game he might have to miss he was told poss Saturday as well but thats Nathan ... Glad he's OK
