A Rebel and a Saint
For anyone who may at some point use the bus to get to Arbour Park (or if you know anyone that could do that won't read the forum etc), I've put a list of the buses that will stop near the ground on the Trust website, as from Saturday there is a large overhaul of bus routes and numbers in Slough. http://www.sloughtownsupporterstrust.co.uk/news It will go on the Club website in due course. staines_rebel_Jr
Seems very strange and silly of them not putting at least one bus route going past Arbour park considering it is meant to be a community facility. I know that the FA and the government try to encourage football clubs to promote and assist supporters to travel to matches using eco-friendly methods I.e. walking, cycling, Bus/trains and car share. Especially when designing and building a new ground. So it is surprising the council haven't put a bus route/stop near the ground. Not saying its the clubs fault as they have consistently encouraged people to walk/cycle/car share when possible.
Mr Rebel
the 1, 12 and 13 turn at the lights a minute or 2 from the ground so pretty convenient really and for a few of those routes nothing new in doing so. Buses from the other side of town have no real reason to run into these routes and totally contradict their changes if they did so
A Rebel and a Saint
I see your point however sending buses along that road would not really achieve much as there's not many houses beyond the crematorium whereas Elliman avenue and Shaggy Calf Lane are very residential. I don't know how much say the council has but at least there's a few buses going within a few minutes walk of the ground from several areas of the town. staines_rebel_Jr
I guess it really depends on how close the bus stops are before/after the busses turn left/right before the ground. There was a bus which did pass down stoke road past the ground. Think it was the bus to Wexham park hospital (might have gone somewhere else but there definitely was a bus going past the ground)
David Carpenter
It really is only a couple of hundred yards from the bus stops in Elliman Avenue. The new routes from Slough Bus Station (with the about to cease routes in brackets) are 13 (1B) to Britwell, 12 (2) to Burnham & (5) to Manor Park. These are First buses. I think the 353 still runs infrequently with another company and the bus stop is a little way north of the ground on Stoke Road. The WP1 to Wexham Park Hospital also goes that way but I am not too sure whether that is non-stop to the hospital. I used the 5 in its old guise from Cippenham via the bus station getting off at what was the old Nags Head. That was for the inaugural match on 29th August. Hope that's of help. COYR! redwine rebel
Yes the WP1 does go past the club now As from October 1st as said it will be a new company and when you get on the bus at the hospital you will have a slight detour as it will also take us poor NHS staff down to the old wexham park car park. Whether the bus turns left or right after dropping us I have no idea!
David Carpenter
Taking a look at the new bus maps it looks like the WP1 and the WP2 (Staff to Wexham Park Stadium) have been merged into no.14 which goes down Shaggy Calf Lane. So whether there will be a stop/stops at the junction of Shaggy Calf Lane/Stoke Road is to be seen.
David Carpenter
And the direct routes 6/6A from Upton Lea and Wexham Court to Wexham Park Hospital have been curtailed at Knolton Way so I guess 14 will have stops installed down Shaggy Calf Lane.
