Berks and Bucks

Should be a good game and atmosphere against Beaconsfield in the Berks & Bucks Cup.

Have you been to many B&B matches?

It is a very low priority tournament with often very small turn outs. Last years home game against Burnham only saw 91 people turn up.

I never said it was going to be a big crowd :-) Although, hopefully, a few more fans will turn out because of the new ground and current good run of form. The Berks and Bucks Cup used to be a well-regarded competition many years ago for the clubs competing in it, but sadly over the years it seems people have lost interest in it.

The winner will be at home to MK Dons in the quarter final

That will be good for Slough to get through and play a League One side at Arbour Park. I know that MK Dons may not field their usual first team, but it will still be an interesting game if we can get past Beaconsfield.

You did say atmosphere though which needs a decent crowd to generate! I'm sure it'll be a better crowd than we would have got at HP that's for sure.

Not necessarily, a small crowd can generate a good atmosphere too. It can depend on what the attitude is of the fans on the day and how the game pans out; if the performance is good, if it is an exciting game etc...

I do agree with what you say though that obviously a decent size crowd definitely helps a lot in generating a good atmosphere. Hopefully, Slough can steadily build the crowds now at the new ground, and having success in the League and any Cup competitions can only help achieve that.

Are you planning on going to the game?

I'm afraid like many others I have no interest in the county cup, although if we got to the final I'd probably go. It's the lowest priority competition and is more of a hindrance and I doubt many would be upset if it was scrapped. With the double digit attendances clubs are losing money staging these games.

The new ground is very near to me only a few minutes walk, so I'm fortunate in that respect that I can just pop along the road to watch them and I don't need to prioritise which competition to go along to.

You could probably watch from your top window! I'm in Sandhurst and with work, social and family life I do need to prioritise matches as there's no way I can attend every match unfortunately. Obviously hope we go as far as we can just wouldn't be concerned if we bow out.

These cup, games are always a mixed blessing. If you are doing well in the league but with injuries suspensions etc they are a pain. If you are not doing so well or have a big squad to keep happy and playing they are a welcome distraction. One of the great things about the new stadium is how easy it is to just pop along for most people , both in distance and quality of experience hence the good crowds at the U 18 s. Also we should not have any matches called off at home so hopefully no fixture congestion. Looking fwd to the 3 home cup games.
