The Crowing Cockerel
Latest news.... Folkestone 2 ETFC 0 Sounds like an own goal and a defensive mistake have gifted the second. Not sounding very impressive from where I sit at the moment. Drawing another blank at home and I think Brad's position may become a little uncertain for the first time. 53 seasons
Cannot agree with the conclusion about Brad. Look at the overall record not just a few games. Stick with a good manager in difficult times or face greater problems. East Thurrock came close to relegation 3 seasons back with John Coventry at the helm and look where they are now. thecoldend
To question Brad's position is foolish in my opinion. We will come good and he is one of the best managers in the division. I wasn't there today so can't comment on the game

The Crowing Cockerel
Just trying to generate some debate. I'm confident Brad can turn things around - its not as if we're getting a pasting week-in-week-out, its just disappointing to once again find ourselves playing catch-up. 14 points behind the league leaders already. 4wembleyfinals
Although I appreciate both points of view I do not think it not unreasonable for someone to question why we are in this predicament. I thought that is what being a member of supporters owned club was about. At this point in time, now Bobby and Vilcu are back, we have only lost one player by his choice the others have left presumably as they were regarded as surplus to requirements. However from what I hear the players brought in to replace them at the beginning of the season have done little to enhance the team. I know it is a long season and that at the same number of games played last year we had only 4pts there is still plenty of time for the team to hopefully improve. What worries me is that even before Corey left we still need another out and out goal scorer. Bobby chipped in but we haven't had one as efficient as McGliesh. I believe he cost us some money but his goals helped to save from being demoted before we had hardly begun in the Prem league. I have already been admonished for suggesting that we should consider investing in a similar player but told that we have not got the funds to underwrite such a deal. Accepting that is the case, have we just got lucky and signed the four new players, including the boy from Reading, for free. As I said previosly with a friendly game next Saturday perhaps BQ will have time to formulate what he believes to be his best team. In the meantime it will also be interesting to see who is of our rejects are playing for Cheshunt and how the new boys get on against them. CD Towner
Talking about the leaders and how close or far away from them we are is hilarious! We're in the relegation zone and looking at the squad are nowhere near challenging this season! Long season ahead and BQ should be answerable to the question of how he's let the squad evolve over period of time into the shambles it currently appears to be. 53 seasons
IMO far from a shambles CD towner. In the matches I have seen we have had most possession but failed to create many chances against teams that have 'parked the bus' . I am all for hearing what Brad is thinking which no doubt will come forward in after match reports and programme notes. Let's remember this squad, (with Corey and Harold Joseph), outplayed Hampton in the last match at their ground and they are now top of the Conference South! A month is a long time in football! I am looking forward to Brad collecting his next manager of the month award, sooner the better though!
lovely stuff
We all said the one thing we didn't want to happen was another poor start to the season and having to play catch up again for the rest of the season. We have had a manager in place long enough. We showed good form during the end of last season,Retained a good amount of last years squad. We should have added just a couple of 'quality' and shrewd signings and then continued with a settled starting 11 and a settled formation.Unfortunately from the very start of pre-season the planning has been a bit of a shambles.Friendlies wasted on playing trialists that would never make it.signing loads of average players that struggle to make any impact on the team.Yes,Brad and the team will probably turn it around at some point and go on the mammouth task of trying to scrape into the last play-off place again. So the question is not can Brad get the team playing well this season, but can he get them playing well at the start of next season? (or any season!).

Ps..when i said we have had the manager in place long enough,i meant he has been in place long enough to not be susceptible to a slow start to the season.Rather than inferring he has been in the job too long. 4wembleyfinals
I am inclined to agree with LS's summation of the recurring situation which has arisen in the past two years. One has lost track of those who have come and gone within weeks as they are not up to the standard, even of those who were let go. Many of whom help the club to the brink of the play-offs. I accept that as manager it is BQ's prerogative to prepare his squad the way he feels fit. So far he has been able to assemble a side, each year of his term , capable of reaching the top of the league. But as LS says only after overcoming the vagaries of the pre season planning. It is understandable if one asks how much input influence his support staff have in this or is it decision alone. Also as the turn over of newly signed players at the beginning of each season appears to be so high it begs the question how or by whom are they recommended. One other matter intrigues me, that being , as to why the only newly signed player who has a track record of scoring regularly, be it in a lower league, was not in the squad on Saturday. If you know why perhaps you would kindly enlighten me.

OldTowner
Nice to read a couple of Players on Twitter thanking the supporters who made the trip to Folkstone. To be honest those there did their best, but Ultras were a no show, which is a shame. Good noise and encouragement but as the players, supporters heads dropped in the second half. So, so need a goal or three to lift everyone. Players and Supporters alike.
4wembleyfinals
Tut-tut OT!! You can't be serious of all people I would have thought that as an insider you would have known to whom I refer. Only the facts man!!!. It's there in black and white. Surely you have read the Official news item about " Tony Mendy- goal per game ratio " or The Town @ ETC Official dated 9th September "Prolific Striker joins from Chalfont". Please don't tell me it was all a hoax, just so that you could score another point. I thought that was all over with.
behind-the-goal
I do not think it not unreasonable for someone to question why we are in this predicament. And I think it is not unreasonable to point out the fact that we have now played 7 hours and 4 minutes of football without scoring a goal; our worst run since promotion to the Premier league. if we also take into consideration the fact that we went out of the FA at the first hurdle to a team in a league below us, I think it's perfectly acceptable to wonder what the season holds in store. In previous seasons we had Corey to count on. This season? I don't need to name names, but with the honourable exception of a wonderful free kick against Kingstonian by one of the guys brought in to replace Corey and Bobby, what have either of those new guys done? Enfield United
Difficult managerial position for Brad, but we all know he isn't a quitter or loser and will seek all avenues to get things going. The previous 2 seasons have proved this. Sometimes a little bit of lady luck or a 1-0 penalty goal win helps to swing the mood back in our favour, it's so similar to last season. Keep the faith everyone only 39 league games left with 117 points and all to play for
OldTowner
Wemb 4 fin. Tut tut indeed, Tony Mendy to whom you refer, was not "left out" of the squad, but was reportedly injured and therefore unavailable to be in the Squad. Let's hope he recovers in time for Tuesday's League Cup match against them up the road.
Steph1
My view of the game. We were beaten by a well organised side who played the offside trap better than any other side I have seen since we left the Essex Senior League. However, if they continue to play in that fashion Folkestone will get tonked in the coming months with teams with faster forwards exploit the gaps that offside play generates. As for Enfield Town. The players are playing for themselves rather than as a team. It is my view that we will not see an improvement until they spend more time on the training ground rather than match play. There was little or no link up play where by defenders work with the midfield. For the first 20 minutes I thought we were playing an ESL side - straight back four with a long poke to the fast forwards but we didn't appear to have the wit or skill to overcome such primitive play. 4wembleyfinals
Thanks OT for info, that is the answer I ask for in the last sentence of my 3.05pm post. If you knew the answer, then why ask such a provocative question.I don't see any purpose in considering any of your posts in the future as you obviously feel superior to us all.If it makes you feel better I give in, my life's to short!!!!
