v Redditch

Yeah fair enough I suppose that would come into account Mark. Shame the next match isn't more local as I just can't get there in time with work! There must be so much confidence at the moment within the camp, another big test on Tuesday but if we continue playing like we have been we should be confident of at least a point.

I don't think it matters who's back fit, surely you can't not start the same team (unless any of them are in available) who played today?

Line up was

Scott

Hicks (RB), Nisbit, Hewitt, Stonehouse

Harris, Fraser, Togwell, Dobson

Barney, James

Charlie Moore was meant to start but picked up an injury in the warm up with James replacing him.

And the best GD in our league. I was sure in my post a week ago that Redditch wouldnt be a problem so very pleased and not surprised at all This really is an excellent squad with genuine quality in depth So long as the lads can give them all an acceptable amount of game time we can at least be looking for the playoffs imo

The best thing about our squad currently is the amount of options we have in every position and the versatility of our players, as proven today.

Don't want to take anything away from our team's great win today but are Redditch as good as they have been in the last two seasons?

Chuffed Charlie Mpi's back , can only be another positive to our attacking prowess.

If we can keep this group of players together we have every chance of finishing in the top 5.

We may have to alter one or two along the way to achieve this but we're certainly not far from being one of the better teams in this division.

Having said that we've got a lot of tough encounters to come yet, so we mustn't get too carried away that we are going to get it all our own way.

As many did today had to follow the game o twitter and what a result in the end.

Just listened to Neil on his after match interview and he sounded unsurprisingly, very happy to say the least. He also said for Tuesday at least i guess, that Charlie Mpi has signed forms with us again. A great addition (although only now and then i guess) to an already excellent performing squad.

Great to have Charlie Mpi back if only for a short period of time, do we know if Charlie has been playing and is fit?

Charlie is back this week, and only available at this stage for the Weymouth game, obviously if Charlie Moone had been available then we probably would not have needed to take Charlie, but as he is not he is a perfect option from the bench.

He has not been playing competitively, but keeping fit with 5 a side etc, but for those that know Charlie, fitness is not an issue for him.

He is on a form, and will always be an option for us when he is back in the UK.

Indeed. Which is a wonderful problem to have. What was particularly great today was the performances of those who came into the team. After a sloppy first 5 minutes, Dan hicks did a great job covering at right back, Brad Hewitt didn't put a foot wrong and Gavin James was a constant menace considering he's only just got back from America. Must comment on Lee togwell specifically though who had a blinding game and it must be a really tough call for the managers in picking 2 out of 3 from him, dunny and Nathan each week. Not one of them really deserves to be missing out and could probably all grace most other teams week in, week out at this level.

The times I've seen him play I'm continually impressed with how Lee Togwell plays the game.

An experienced and disciplined holding midfielder who just does the simple things right.

I listened to the game on Rebels Radio and have to say the commentary from Adrian is excellent.

Quite funny when he kept comparing Paul Stonehouse and Lee Togwell to the Mitchell brothers from Eastenders.

Redditch have certainly lost a few quality players but there manager seems to think they've also recruited some quality players, so it's anyone's guess if they are as good as last season but perhaps we are just that much better this season?

As someone has already said I think the next 5 games will be the acid test to see how far we've progressed with Weymouth, Biggleswade, Leamington and Chippenham on the agenda.

Saw Togwell play for SYCOB a few times last year and was always MoM. Was delighted when I heard he was joining Slough as I thought he gave us a great option in midfield. Yesterday's game proved that in spades. Good result yesterday but strange how the fixtures work that was our first match against a side currently in the top half of the table. But the old adage applies you can only play what's in front of you and the important thing is that we have stepped up when required. Not getting beaten yesterday would have been a reasonable result so it's a bonus to win. Now need the same at Weymouth and home to Biggleswade to get to 10 games with just a single defeat. If that leaves us 2nd 3rd or wherever will be a great foundation for the season ahead.

The point about playing teams in the top half at this stage of the season is not really relevant as a couple of wins or defeats can catapult you one way or the other in the table. When you look at Chippenham's opponents so far you could say the same thing. Does anybody suppose that Kettering will not be play off contenders come 2017 for instance? Totally agree that the next few matches will give us a better idea of where we could finish up though.
