Hanwell Town FC 1 Enfield Town 0

1F in Enfield

Recommended Posts

A very disappointing afternoon. I thought we played well, dominated the game and as usual the final third let us down. Was great to see Bobby and Claudio return and can already see an improvement. Kirby and Crook missing did not help.

It is very frustrating that we are not scoring goals and we haven't scored for three games now. However at times like this it is essential that the supporters get behind the team to bring back the confidence. It was disappointing today to hear a lot of negativity behind the goal. The crowd was also quiet which I wasn't expecting with it being FA cup and non league day. What happened to the Ultras?

Interested to hear others thoughts.

Well done Hanwell Town and time for us to move on and score some goals! COYT

Sorry for being repetitive but, as I am still unable to watch games, I was hoping to read that we had at least earned a draw. Not being there rather excludes me

from making any observations of the match, but I was hoping for a better outcome.

I can appreciate what 1F is saying but you cannot

blame the supporters for not dancing in the streets at what they are currently

seeing. They still give their travelling support but have higher expectations than they

are getting. Change that and you will see soon see them show their appreciation again.

Unfortunately, they don't all read Hans Anderson and believe in" the Kings

wonderful coat " but rely on what they actually see.

The bottom line is that we didn't just lose a game to day. But more importantly, not

wishing to be. in the words of another, accused of being " flippant " did we or did we not lose £3000 to day? Now I am being " flippant" that's hardly an example of " having a

business mind " QED.

Good account of the day from 1F in Enfield. Nothing going for us at the moment. Claudiu and Bobby made a difference. For me Dernell looked good when he came on and will be an asset when fully fit. Sorry, but Kelvin and Harry look short and add few attacking options at the moment. Football is a fickle game.7 league games back we were one goal short of the play offs. Keep the faith and get behind Brad and the boys.

We didn't lose £3k as we didn't have it in the first place.

1F's posting is spot on, need to sort out our attacking 3rd. Thought Kirbys presence and Billy's ability were sorely missed as they both wear their hearts on their sleeves in such situations we faced v's Hanwell and that's what was a missing ingredient I thought.

Still, Tyler should've scored one of his 2 golden chances he had which would've forced a replay. Not to be, maybe it's a run in the FA Trophy this season

I thought you guys had most of the ball yesterday but your final ball was poor and none of your players could hit the target some shooting practice needed in training i think. You bought a good amount of support but they were very quiet but i dont blame them as they didnt have much to cheer about but i thought your supporters and committee were a nice bunch of people. We have been very poor in our last two games we have played so to get the win against you guys was great result for us. Hope Enfield Town FC turn things around. Goodluck for the rest of the season.

By God EU you really want the last word. If you want to argue semantics then I'm

quite happy to do so.

But I am more inclined to accept the critique of Savagebee above that

our forward line shows little firing power.

Even an outsider can recognises that that none of our newly acquired " strikers" shows an inclination to score goals. It would be good to have your thoughts as

how this can be rectified.

We should be alright without the new strikers. Winter looked good yesterday and will be better when fully fit. Devyne and Ottaway are worthy of a place. Just need to keep some consistency in the starting line up, work on it in training and things should settle down. That should get us to the level of last season. If we want promotion i suspect we need to splash out on a goal scorer.

Well said 1F, glad to see someone has the courage to bring a bit of realism to the current scoring position.

As I haven't seen any of our new players, my views are based on an appraisal given to me by another long term supporter, whose technical knowledge of the game I have the greatest respect. Unfortunately it may seem harsh, but it has made me form the opinion that neither of our forward acquisitions are up to the standard required for us to improve our position in the league no matter what their past credentials may have suggested. One suspects that perhaps deep down BQ has come to a similar conclusion.

If this is the case then I hope he perseveres on the lines advocated by 1F and utilises

those players in whom he can trust. Perhaps then he will, with the Boards help, be given the opportunity to acquire a player/s that he thinks will fit in with his plan, similar to that of Billy Crook. This may cost the club a fee or two.

I know there those who feel that paying a fee for a player is false measure. But is this worse than paying players who are bringing very little to the team?

Before I am flayed alive for these remarks, I am not suggesting in any way that any one playing for the club does not give 100% for the team. But whether their 100% is of the standard that BQ requires.

Is there now a danger that our season will be over by October? Surely the FA Cup has to always be an absolute priority? Once again we've had a poor start to a season which has now been compounded by an early exit from the Cup against lower league opposition. It is far from impressive. Our progress as a club might not be dictated by a decent Cup run, but it would certainly be assisted by the cash injection.

I gather Waltham Abbey might've unearthed a useful young striker. Perhaps worth a look, because we need goals!

Can't understand what's upset you (again) 4wembleyfinals I thought my reply was factual and an opinion.

We will need to firstly restore some confidence to rectify the forward line, I too don't think the new guys are the level are seeking to fill the void which Corey's left behind.

I think BQ likes to find good players at lower levels and drive them onwards to their maximum rather than splashing out a budget on a star striker. I don't think we should panic at all, a signing or two is all we need Having been to all games bar 2 this season, I for one am still positive and trust the manager to succeed.

Fingers crossed I've not said anything to have upset anyone.

Please bear with me for a moment whilst I answer EU question.

What has upset me is the way you tend to personalise your comments and on occasion you do appear to talk down to other subscribers. You can't deny that you have referred to other peoples comments as

" flippant" and lacking in " knowledge of how business is run". Do you not think that this can be regarded as offensive? Unfortunately in my working life I have listened to people who make statements on subjects of which they have obviously no knowledge.

The latest for example is your attempt to point score, and  relates to  the lose of £3k on  Saturday. Rally this is peanuts but I have to rise to bait when your submission is grossly ill informed.  If  you  have  access  to a  copy  of  Simons  Legal  cases  you  will    see that   in  1993  the  High  Court  Ruled , which was subsequently upheld in the Court of Appeal, that you do not have to be the beneficial owner of an asset to suffer it's loss.

See we can all be boorish when we wish, but where does it get us. I am useless at DIY consequently  I never comment on in.

I AM SURE THAT OTHERS ARE SAYING  WHAT' THE HELL HAS  THIS TO DO WITH THE PRICE OF FISH?

Just that I didn't start this and if EU is happy to acknowledge that other people opinions have as much validity has is own then we can STOP this stupid vendetta, choose our words better and get on and discuss how we can best support the club at this particular time. If that means how we would like to see the playing staff unfold then so be it.

I for one  have no wish to carry on picking holes in any one so EU lets join in having a sensible debate in future.

Reading subscribers recent comments it is apparent that many of us are in agreement

as to how we would like to see the club proceed. The  paradox to this is that a few consecutive  wins would soon change all our demeanours.

Great fun Andy and CC and much appreciated. You sound like my sort of people.

However, I agree that perhaps the puns are starting to wear a bit fin and perhaps it is time for us all to roe together to help the team anchovy its potential.

As in the last two seasons, the recovery began about the middle of Sept. Hopefully it

will begin a week earlier this year.
