Catdog Rovers
Not looking good for Leighton Town. Goes to show that there's really not much between steps 4 and 5. And not a particularly good day for the SSML in the cup. But at least there's still a few flying the flag. And one slight gripe with those scores. An Oxhey Dev player told me he scored 2 in a 4-4 draw with Hertford...
Savagebee
Southall 1 Wodson Park 2 Wasnt at the game was down the road watching Pitshanger Dynamo play. Well it looks like the bubble has well and truly burst for Southall FC now with two defeats in a row and i know its very early days but i have it on good word that the Southall FC officals want promotion this season so Paul Palmer may start feeling the pressure if they dont get something from there next game. patemondo
A great win for Stotfold against Welwyn. Not quite the walkover one forum member from Welwyn expected it to be. Its very early in the season and we had our problems at Hoddesdon and Wembley but we are a decent young side and our will cause a lot of teams problems as the season progresses. I've heard Southall aren't looking too good in the GK department. I'm sure once a certain forum member gets back between the sticks for them, they'll be a force. SpanishAsh
Leighton should realise they've made a poor decision with their managerial appointment and give the reigns to someone who can bring in better players. One person that springs to mind is Paul Alleyne who isn't involved with a club after the Amersham debacle
Dailydose
You would have to give Paul Alleyne more than a season as almost all of the old guard from Hale Leys have been scattered over several clubs. Can these players cut it in the prem?
SpanishAsh
The 'first leg' against Hertford in last seasons cup suggests so. The squad he was building at Amersham was potentially better than those that played Hertford. With Leighton being between Milton Keynes and Luton he may also attract those who played in his National Cup side. From what I've seen of the current Leighton squad (seems to change game by game) they have no philosophy other than lump it forward and hope for the best
Tom24
Surely Leighton would be looking into a change of management? After being relegated the aim is to go straight back up but currently they are sat in the bottom 3. Not a good look for a club as big as that, and I would believe Paul Alleyne formerly of hale leys would do a good job there as he has the right football philosophy and can bring the players in that can play at thag standard
BigKen
Give me a break, he has proven nothing at that level, and didn't Hale leys get done 4/0 when Hertford realised it wasn't just a kick about
SpanishAsh
It finished 4-2 and it may have been a lot different were it not for missed chances. Not sure how much div 2 football you've seen but the obvious domination from Hale Leys in recent years says he has more to offer. Higher level football would allow him to attract players who weren't prepared to drop to div 2 football.
Dailydose
you can't really judge any manager on one halfs performance or even one game. Everyone knows that the worst team in a cup competition can beat the favourites. he would still need a season to assemble a squad, it can't be done overnight. I feel he would need to run a div 1 side first to prove his real worth. There are many good managers in the divisions below but I do agree he knows a lot of players and if they are willing to travelling and not play local convenient football, then who knows
Neutral
Leighton have Osubu and Gallant down there now, I reckon they'll be alright. Would you follow him to Leighton then Ash? Where are you now, Thame Rangers or Aylesbury Vale?
SpanishAsh
I'm at Aylesbury FC mate. Leighton have 2 good keepers down there anyway that's not a position that needs improving.
LongShlongSilver
It's a big step up from Div 2 and you need players to be 100% commited every week, not just for Games but also training. It's a shame what happened at Amersham as Division 1 this season looks highly competitive and would of shown if he can make the steps up. Which many feel he can
Leighton Hatter
Leighton 's issue is that they sacked the manager that did the best 2 seasons ago in craig bicknell. since then it has been downhill, and changes need to be made sooner rather than later both on and off the pitch.
Dailydose
Why is that the issue, everyone knows the Bicknell story, the club were left with no choice. The new manager has only been in charge for a couple of games, give the man a chance. You can lose 10 games and still win the prem

Yep DC is itching to get back between the posts for Southall FC and he might be able to tempt some of the Southall FC old guard back to the club to give them some depth. Paul Palmer will get them back on track i have no doubt about that.
Tom24
Clearly not because last season the winners finished 13 points clear and only lost 4 games, 2nd & 3rd place then finished 15 points clear of 4th and they both lost 7 games so I don't think you can win that league whilst losing 10 games and having lost 3 out of there first 4 it's not the best start. Jonno
I think you can lose 4-6 games max. Certainly not
