St Ives Game

Finished 3-0 to the Rebels with goals from Hollis, Moone and Barney.

Outstanding performance from the team overal all the way from Mark Scott to Warren Harris and everyone inbetween. We got the ball down and played it smoothly around very well in a manner that St Ives just couldnt live with. Could have scored a hat full today but the 3-0 win was excellent in the end. MoM given to Paul Stonehouse but again could have been anyone due to the high end performance.

Up to 5th in the table and looking up not down is a nice feeling to start the season.

A great way to leave Holloways park with a totally dominant performance.

It finished 3-0 but could easily have been more. If it hadn’t been for 2 goal line clearances we could have lead 3-0 at half time. Second half we came out strong again and continued to push on. We played some great passing football today and really stretched St Ives who looked very tired at the end due to all the chasing they had to do.

No complaints about MotM choice as it could easily have been anyone today. My personal choice would have been Dunn. To be honest at the start of the season I wasn’t totally convinced Dunn deserved the stating place over Togwell but game by game I have been more and more impressed and now feel he is a definite starter.

only disappointing thing today was the lack of noise from some. Just hope they are saving their voices for Monday.

Funny how various supporters view things. I wasn't quite as overawed as you, Slough Flyer but agree it was good to see us win and keep a clean sheet.

Don't want to steal Slough's thunder, and you can only beat what team's in front of you but I thought we made heavy weather in beating St Ives. I was hoping for a 5-0 or 6-0 win, once we had got to 3-0.

St Ives are in for a long season, if that's the best they can offer. I thought they were awful and the worst team I've seen so far.

In my view regardless of the goals we scored, I found the game a bit dreary but then again that might just be me ! ha ha !

Slough deserve credit for getting the 3 points and it's great to see us zooming up the table but we are going to face a lot harder sides than them to come and we still have a lot of work to do, to improve in key areas.

Glad Paul Stonehouse got Man of the Match today, he did seem on top of his game.

Still, a win's a win, how ever you come by it. Onwards and upwards.

Disagree 100 per cent ? We did not allow them to play!! We were too good for them! They beat St Neots last week who then beat Weymouth away 2-0 today!

Thought we were excellent today!! Solid 3 points

Early days to get too excited but a very pleasant change to get off to a good start  I have to agree with Neil about this game  There is a post match interview with  the St Ives manager on their site  and he sounds shell shocked and says he has to go back two and a half seasons to think of a game where the opposition so totally dominated the game  and their early form suggests they arent a poor side  they came up against a rebel alliance today that would have beaten any side in our league on the day

3spirit, your glass really is half empty   ;)

I thought we were excellent today and going by St Ives recent results they are not a bad team by any stretch.

We played some excellent stuff, dominated the game from start to finish and in all honesty we really should have been out of sight by half time.

Great to see Putts back with his workrate and accuracy of crosses being top draw.

Not a weak link in sight today but for me Stoney and Simon Dunn were sublime with Stoney just edging it for MOTM.

I don't think anyone is saying St Ives will be challenging anywhere near the top but the way we controlled the game and completely outplayed them was a pleasure to watch.

COYR!!

Just fell over on your point about Simon Dunn SRJ.

For me he's been top notch since the first game. Has hardly put a foot wrong and a real touch of class in center mid. I certainly hope we've got him on a contract.

Respect your opinion Neil but cannot agree.

I thought Slough was deserving of the victory and rightly won the game.

Did Slough work their socks off to win that game, really?

To me, a couple of our players were below par, if anything, and we still have areas to improve on, so that told me a lot about St Ives !

Where was the fighting spirit in the opposition team, they offered very little of that IMO.

That's why I thought we let them off the hook by not beating them by more.

Excellent performance today, improvement on Tuesday in that we created scoring opportunities... third goal a specific example of an understanding developing between our strikers.

Probably the best performance I have seen under Bakes and Unders... thank you, very entertaining way to spend my birthday afternoon.

The start of the season is the moment the whistle blows for the first match. Therefore I could not have seen him play in competitive matches only the friendlies

Correct SRJ, the start of the season is when the whistle blows for the first league game of the season otherwise it's pre-season.

Still at least we agree on something that Simon Dunn is a quality player   :P

No idea what you were watching 3spirit. Thought we were excellent. Dominated the game and created numerous chances particularly second half. Didn't think we took our foot of the gas at all. Always looking to stretch them and create more opportunities. Prime example being Gavin James who came on full of running and clearly keen to win his place book.

Great stuff Rebels.

Happy Birthday !

Do you mean this season?  Or do you mean since Neil and Jon was appointed Slough managers?

If you mean since they started as Slough managers, I think you can't have seen many of their games !!!

Your Birthday cake didn't contain any hallucinogenic drugs, did it ! ha ha ha !
