Stratford home - Tue 16th August

At the end of the match there appeared to be a verbal confrontation near their dugout between one of Stratford's coaching team and a fan (I think it may have had something to do with the Stratford guy kicking a ball away when we were trying to get a ball back in to play quickly in added time)...... any action taken after the game, or just ignored?

I can't see how that was a point gained rather two points lost. You must win your home games to have a chance of doing well.Still nice to see the back four playing well as a unit, most good sides build from the back.

Just a thought a lot of people are banking on the new pitch as a match winner, what if it isn't , can we then blame the pitch. Not being negative here just pointing out the facts.

A fair point ,Kirk.  However, don't you think you're being a bit quick to judge what will happen. We need to see where our squad is , come October and November. 3g will be a learning curve for all of us [managers, players and fans].

As Neil has said 7 points out of 12 is a good return. To me, that's a great return given that we are not firing on full cylinders yet and the players are still learning about each other's game.

From my point of view we are a one striker light and could do with a different to what we've got central midfielder but I know I'm jumping the gun thinking this, as we haven't played all the players we've got yet or the various combinations they will give. We also have the option of playing one of our fine wingers up front if need be.

What also must be taken into account, is we've incurred injuries and absences to our big game players, which hasn't helped our results.

So I think a bit of patience, dear boy !

Think it's a compliment that teams are setting up not to lose to us, home or away. A couple of their supporters were in front of us and they weren't best pleased with how they were playing and in the end admitted a draw was a good result for them. They jokingly enquired whether our keeper was any good, so that tells you something! We would have lost such a game in the past, so not at all worried about progress so far. Stratford haven't won yet so I'd rather be in our shoes than theirs.

I think we have had very good upgrades in 4-5 positions and we are playing some good stuff already. I've no doubt we will get better when the players are more familiar with each other's games but the signs are that we should do much better this year. Coupled with the buzz around the new ground this could be a great season for us.

Last night was very frustrating and no doubt Stratford set up with lots of men behind the ball and credit must go to their defence and keeper who did a great job to restrict us to 2-3 decent chances. If we are going to have to learn how to break teams like that down if we are going to challenge at the top end of the table.

My only criticism would be the long ball we were continually playing out to Dobbo, who to be fair won just about everything, but they had so many players in and around that area it would almost always fall to a defender. It's a tactic that has worked quite well in the other games but more patience was needed last night in my opinion.

Alternatively it's all my Dad's fault. His fourth game in as many years and he hasn't seen us score. Bad news is he's got a season ticket this year.

3spirit, what type of striker do you think we need?

Also, you think we need a different type of midfielder to what we've got and then suggest we may have that player in the current squad?

I find it amazing how anyone can judge a squad after 3 games whether we're top, middle or bottom, at least give them 10 games FFS! We're nicely positioned and IF we win on Saturday we could potentially be moving into the new ground in a play off spot! Absolutely gutted I can't witness this historic match (frigging annual family duty!).

RR, A good one ! ha ha!

Joking aside Ed, I don't want to say who we need and who we don't need, until we've explored all our options in the squad we have currently.

Playing on 3g, other than it plays faster than grass, I know nothing about.

So Bakes and Unders must have ideas on how and what their team will play like. They've assembled this squad, I'm willing to wait and see their ideas come to fruition.

Being any manager, you get damned if you do and damned if you don't, by us fans, but we all have ideas on what we would like to see, when things aren't going well on the pitch.

At the moment, I think the managers are somewhat constrained in what they are doing, in an attacking sense, as they are waiting for players to settle in with others and the pressure of trying to not drop points, being that we want our side to be higher up the table for when we go in the new stadium, to attract new supporters.

If we had played Stratford later in the season at home, and they had adopted their same formation as the 5-3-2 they did the other night, I would have liked us to have gone 4-3-3 to take the game to them.

Let's hope for more goalmouth action in the St Ives net on Saturday !
