We better start advising opposition players specifically what footwear is acceptable then... otherwise the Council might be refusing to allow some of them access to the pitch!!

This is actually done, whereby clubs are sent an e mail to determine what is appropriate and not, which is meant to be distributed to the players, I know we have done this prior to playing Merthyr.

 

I remember at Bedworth I was asked to get off the pitch when walking in my standard trainers...

 

Astro Trainers are allowed according to what we have been sent, whether this has more of a detrimental effect to the surface I am not sure, however allowable.

Don't worry we have made opposition aware and will make sure that the mascots know what they can and can't wear. This is stipulated by the manufacturers of the pitch in order to maintain the warranty. Can discuss til cows come home but it is what it is.

Neil what was noticeable about that game how many of our players who sliped over on that surface was that down to the boots being worn or getting used to the pitch.

Neil actually clarified for me by saying astro turf footwear was acceptable.... means if I do a kids mascot sponsorship again I will only have to spend about £10 on the required footwear for the kid (whereas if it was specifically 3G footwear would have been more like £50).
