Eton Manor Website Now Live!

Recommended Posts

Well! It's finally here! two ways to access www.emfc.co.uk or www.etonmanorfc.co.uk

Sorry for the delay guys, but if you knew what went into to this project then I'm sure you would understand. Southport's comment sent me into overdrive and 2 sleepless nights later I am happy to confirm that the new Eton Manor FC website is live!

There is still a lot of work to be done so please be understanding.

The website is on a fast and stable server, all affiliations have been granted and approved so we shouldn't have to many problems. Please feel free to comment! keep it nice or I will stick your posts on the website next to a smelly sock!

Check out the Vintage section, you must remember Eton Manor is an old Club with many associations all over London and Essex. Speaking to few old Manor Boys at the Game yesterday confirms that the Club holds a soft spot for many people, hopefully the website will bring out ex-players and fans that will share their memories and experiences.

Would just like to thank Evolution Internet, and especially Brad Roberts for his help and vast input.

Cheers and here's to the next 103 years of Football at the Manor.

Regards and Best Seasonal Greetings to all....

Manor Born

Congratulations to Eton Manor and your new web-site. The Senior League always have the most sincere affection for this great old club and I have loads of programmes going back to the London League in 1938 in my collection including the furthest in the F A Cup .... 4th Qualifying round at Dunstable Town in 1956 .. I have added the website to my "favourites" and just loved those 1938 photographs including Gil Medcalf who went on, with wife Doris to form the "other" Manor at Southend in 1955 !

Did you know that Eton Manor and manager Arthur Villiers were instrumental because of their influence on East London Sport, in helping the Government in 1935, preserve the open space of Hackney Marshes when a certain London County Council wanted to build houses on the land ! Also, the proceeds of an Oxford & Cambridge game with Chelsea in the 1921 and Chelsea v Glasgow Celtic in 1923 went to "the Eton Manor clubs for working men and boys in the East End "

... in fact, 10,000 saw the latter game which resulted in a 1-0 victory for the Scots and the princely sum of £508 benefited the club.

Crime is not a modern day scourge you know, for back in 1929 while Epping Town were playing Eton Manor Wanderers in the Walthamstow Premier League at the Temple Mills Ground - someone got into the dressing room and stole all their money !

Reg Curtis is the oldest player to appear in the Senior League and to say his former clubs are unknown is, of course only right because of his undying loyalty to the Manor but just to spoil the party, Ford United seems to come to mind and what he's achived in Vets football should be documented gents - he's an icon !

Thanks League chairman your comments are most welcome. In actual fact I built the website around the old archive photos that was loaned to me by an old Eton manor player. Reg insisted that we must hold true to the Club history, and I sincerely hope I have managed to reflect this within the web site, indeed I am researching the facts of the club and would be truly grateful to pick your brains, as you appear to be a mindful of information that would help me no end.

You comments about our Club Chairman is also welcome, he would be embarrassed to hear me say " But if it was not for Reg Curtis old Eton Manor Football Club would be no more!"

We still have more work to do on the website. I shall be setting up another page in a day or so giving Club contacts. This will allow anyone wishing to assist the Club both financially or in a physical support role. I understand that plenty of people have offered their time to ensure the club continues for another 103 years. Lets hope so.....

Anyway many thanks for taking the time to review the content, and please feel free to pass constructive comment.

Kindest Regards

Manor Born.

Congrats to all involved in the setting up, shame about the mug shots, could do with a bit of tweaking there!!! haven't had much time to view the whole site, but what i've seen is very good. Now all we need to do is re-discover our form on the pitch and all will be well again. thanks once again to Paul, John & Brad for getting us on line, great job fellows.

For those interested, Reg's vets team are playing a yuletide friendly against Potters Bar's vets at Potters Bar Town on Sunday 28 December. I'm not sure of the KO off the top of my head but will try and find out if people want to know.

Its good to see that we have had so many people look to see what Eton Manor are up to, and thank you for the Lge Chairmans comments. We would love to meet up and look at the old programmes, and i agree with the comment about our Reg, without him we would be lost, we might go along to his vet game on the 28th to give him some support.
