v Kings Langley

Good result in the end and very much deserved on the balance of play.

2 very sloppy and careless mistakes capitalised on very well by the Kings Langley team put us behind the 8 ball a bit, but i think we stuck to the task well and won the game with one of the best crosses from Dobbo we will see all season.

As an aside, what a dump that Kings Langley ground is! They are going to ha e to invest some decent money in the winter to get it anywhere near a decent standard. Its comes to something when you are saying that AFC Hayes ground is better than the one we were at today!

I thought their pitch was awful, however they started well on it and Slough were slow out the blocks and seemed wide open to Kings Langley's early counter attacking play. At 2-0 down things were looking ominous for us, with their number 10  [Duku] looking particularly useful on the break.

Stroke of luck got us back in it against the run of play, with Simon Dunn's goal and this seemed to upset the home side's belief and seemed to galvanise our play, to which Dobbo then popped up with an equaliser. Which seemed to stun Kings Langley.

Half time arrived, which certainly helped our team re-focus and re-group and I'm sure there would have been a hot air blast from our managers considering what they and us fans had witnessed early doors.

Second half we played much better and took control. Guy Hollis was outstanding and lead from the front[my Man of the Match]. Sean Fraser partnered Guy well in the heart of defence and Josh Jackman had a notable debut.

I thought Nathan Webb worked his socks off in the second half but him and Dunny seemed out of sync in that initial opening onslaught with Paul Stonehouse also looking shaky.

Thankfully improvement all round in that second half got us the rewards and then Charlie Moone, who had a quiet game by his standards, duly gets us the winner. Happy days are here again !

Nice to get the win, though, whatever.

Just a point on the "stroke of luck" that got us back in the game today. Was in fact a set piece that we work on time and again in training and it showed today how important it is to work on these things.

Not great from us today but such an important win.

Thanks all for the excellent support today ?

When I said ' stroke of luck ' , Jon, I was meaning that we scored against the run of play and at a good time.

Not meaning anything detrimental to how we put the ball in the net.

Whatever way they go in, they all count !

I agree with all the comments above.

We lost 2 sloppy goals and could have lost more but I can't remember the last game we were 2 behind and still won, so cudos to the team and management.

I think it harsh to say stony was shaky, yes he lost the ball a few yes but that was because he had no easy passes to offload the ball to.

Think callum needs to be stronger but his goal makes up for the two times he went down easy when through.

Still I went home happy and 6 points from 3 games is a very good start.

Motm for me was dobbo, not my favourite but clearly had a few great moments in the game which got us the points.

Looking forward to tuesday.
