all games at the dolphin stadium.

 

The record at Wexham was 6,000 for Slough School Boys v Liverpool Schoolboys.

I just cannot imagine cramming 6,000 into Wexham Park... 'sardined' just wouldn't come into it - but for a schoolboy match ?!?!

 

Just looking at that though, it make you wonder why 9,000 people went to an amateur cup match, and why that number of people WOULDN'T attend a similar match today? I've always wondered that.

well i can assure you 60000 were in wexham park-it was the english schools final second leg,our captain paul walker was also the england captain.and brian mcdermott was a top striker.

as for the attendances at the old dolphin-in those days they were all called amateurs,so it was the elite of non league football,given that the levels of fitness have improved- i think i am still safe in saying those teams of the late 60's and early 70's, would have beaten any of our conference sides.i can only think of steve thompson who may have improved the side.
