Nothing like an early start to Saturday's big Kick-Off   :)

 

Does anyone think tonight's starting 11 (obviously minus Putts) should be our starting 11 for Saturday?

 

Personally, I think it's not cut and dried yet as the players who came on in the second half tonight IMO were excellent and staked their claim to a starting place on Saturday.

I do  ie  Scott, Fraser, Hollis, Nesbit, Stonehouse, Harris, Webb, Dunn, Dobson [if Putts is injured] Moone and James.

Subs for me would be Jackman, Hicks, Sear, Togwell and Barney.

Brad Hewitt with his head injury and Adam New to miss out on this one IMO.

Webb is ok but flatters to deceive a bit for me! James offers more presence and barney better impact player than James would be in my opinion!

Congratulations to Sean on getting the captaincy. Liked the way the decision was taken.

Personally I prefer a captain to come from either the centre of midfield or the centre of defence, as that is where the heat of the battle usually is but with Sean now being our longest serving player, it is fitting that he has been given it. He certainly won't let anyone down, for sure.

Also gives Mark Nesbit leeway, too, so that he can concentrate on doing his defensive job properly and growing into his new team.

 

Sloughboy , don't agree with you about Nathan Webb although I recognise that he can be inconsistent in his level of performance.

On his day, he's as good as any centre midfielder we've had since Bakes and Unders have been managers with us [actually he's more than just a centre midfielder, as he's proved he can play well in a number of positions] but admittedly he does have a tendency to switch off on occasion, so it will be good to have the quality of Simon Dunn, Lee Togwell, Adrian Sear and a few possible alternatives to keep him on his toes, when battling it out for a place in the team.

 

As Neil said on the Harrow interview, all three of our forwards have been playing well, so any of them missing out in the first 11 for Saturday, is going to be a tough call.  

 

What was Neil on about, in that interview, about pressure coming from five on the forum? ! ha ha ha!

Very difficult to choose between Lee Barney and Gavin James. 

 

They are very different players. I like Barney's movement and I think he is a more natural goal scorer than James.

 

Obviously James should add a physical presence and with the right ball his pace should come into play.

 

A real toss of a coin for me.

I don't think any player playing for us at Level 7, can ever be expected to be as good as players that played for us at Level 5.

 

Just to keep things in perspective would you pick any off them over Steve Thomson.

 

Just used him to get an idea on where you think we are standard wise.Don't understand why players cannot be better than the level they are at in the present time, after all we have players now who have come down a level.Then of course we had players who went from non league to full pro.

I'm sure it's not politically correct but I don't think I'll be going to that one ! ha ha !

 

Then again there might be a big queue! lol !
