Guaranteed to play 2 matches over the weekend of the 23rd and 24th July.

We play Farnborough on the 23rd at 3:30 and depending on the result will play either Hendon or Carshalton.

Entry is £5 adults and £1 for U18. This will cover both games on that day.

Hendon play on a 3G pitch. And also have former rebels Chris Seeby and Omar Vassell.

Game finished 0-0 and then we lost on penalties. We will play Carshalton tomorrow at 1-00.

A good work out against a good team in very hot weather. I thought we deserved the win and were the better team. We were solid defensively and had strong options going forward but a little weak in centre midfield. Despite saying we were weakest in midfield I would single out Nathan Webb today who was excellent defensively, throwing himself into well timed tackles to break up Farnboroughs attacks and will be feeling a few of the knock he took today.

Tomorrow will be interesting to how we line up and play after a hot draining game today.

All in all quite positive despite the final loss.

SRJ, as per pre match report, I think we have a squad of 22 so should be an entirely different starting 11 unless some of the subs picked up an injury.

Apart from Nathan Webb did we have any more commendable performances?

First half Slough got a lot of joy down the left with Putman and Stoney, also Gilkes found a lot of space wide right. Second half was up the slope and with the heat was quite a task but set pieces were our clearest chances with Hewitt having 2 headers cleared off the line.

For me I was impressed with the two number 2's in Jackman and Onunya(Boro) but both Moone and James worked well both with the ball and without. Defensively we were solid but Hewitt made two lazy errors which led to Boro 's best chances.

Farnboro were a good side and with their constant moaning from their players would fit in well with our league.

I think hearing that were solid defensively, apart from a couple of lazy errors, is a big plus considering the last couple of seasons.

Would it be fair to say we were the better team but failed to put away the chances we created?

We had 4 cleared off the line, among a number of other opportunities, whereas Scottie was rarely troubled, I think on another day we could have won relatively comfortable.

They had a goal chalked off for offside, after a short back pass from Brad, and if I am honest from where I was it did not look offside, however other than that, a break at the end of the first half where Josh got in a great block, a free kick and another chance second half they were pretty limited.

I was really pleased with the attitude and work rate from our lads in what were scorching conditions, just watching it was red hot, so god knows what it was like doing a 90 in it.

Farnborough are a very good side, and with the players they have (6 or so playing regularly at conference south last season) they would be more than a match for any side in our league, however I thought that we showed the greater threat throughout the game.

In terms of today, the idea is to start all those that didn't start yesterday with probably only Sean and Puts to start again, who will probably do a 45 each.

We have the two young midfielders on trial, and also have an ex Egyptian u21 player who will get minutes at some stage.

We are also hopeful that Guy Hollis can get some minutes under his belt.

We will be without Charlie Moone, Mark Nisbet, Brad Hewitt, Warren Harris, Simon Dunn and Lee Togwell, and it is highly unlikely that Mark Scott Paul Stonehouse or Harrison Gilkes will play any part.

I do wonder what the make-up of todays team would have been if we had won the penalty shoot out and been in the final playing for the trophy?

IMO exactly the same. Winnings always nice but looking at players, trialists etc and every player getting match fit is more important than the result.

Exactly that, would have made no difference to the line up today, the weekend was not about winning a tournament (if we had then great) but getting most players 90 minutes, and to see some new trialists and some who we were making a decision on.

Following the weekend, Sam Bunting and Joel Jacobs will be moving on, and also Gurkan Gokmen will be going out on loan as of next week, to get himself minutes (as through no fault of his own he has missed most of pre season and is behind other lads in the pecking order)

The two central midfielders that trialled today will not be asked back, as neither made the impact needed.
