Fixtures

Good to see we have the local derby with Hayes & Yeading United on bank holidays, should produce some decent crowds. Probably realistic to expect the first game at AP to be early September, let's hope the pitch at HP is playable!

HP pitch is the best it's been for a long time as there wasn't that many cup games on it last season, so the groundsman got on it earlier.

Our midweek fixtures at the moment

Banbury (A)

Stratford (H)

Weymouth (A)

Leamington (H)

Dunstable (A)

Weymouth (H)

Dorchester (H)

Stratford (A)

Banbury (H)

Some sense of making us play the same opposition home and away in midweek but the choice of opposition is stupid. Lots of long trips on Tuesday nights.

Seems like the request for the first 3/4 games to be played away from home fell on deaf ears or did we even ask?

What about the idea someone suggested of asking clubs to reverse the fixtures?

Personally I really hate the thought of going back to SYCOB to play some home games.

The fixtures are done by computer and come out using some random formula.

It is Now, once the computer has generated them that the talks can start for switching them. IF that is what the club wants to do.

The fixture computer can not take that into account

considering the league level etc the midweek away games don't seem too bad travelling

Banbury (A) less than an hour 1 of the more local teams

Weymouth (A) admittedly quite a trek for midweek or weekend come to think of it

Dunstable (A) again less than an hour and 1 of the more local teams

Stratford (A) somewhere around 90 minutes from slough. not too bad considering some journeys we have had in this league

it could / should have been against; H&Y, Chesham, Kings Langley, Dunstable, Hitchin and Basingstoke.

Aside from Weymouth all the other midweek games are acceptable, if every club argued for having only local midweek fixtures it'll never work so you have to be realistic to what games you can have. Imagine if we had Kings Lynn, Cinderford, Dorchester, Merthyr away midweek imagine the drama and commotion!

I think you will find a lot of the FA Trophy and FA Cup round dates coincide with our Saturday away fixtures..... so if we are fortunate enough to have good cup runs, we could end up with some long distance away midweek fixtures like Merthyr and Kings Lynn (as 15th Oct and 10th Dec are later round cup weekends).

I still would prefer some good cup runs though.

There could be a last away match walk this season, with it being Chesham.

As for Weymouth midweek, at least it's when the schools have gone back, so we don't get the 5hr tail backs, you can get in August, also we had Poole away on a Tuesday a couple od seasons a go, which wasn't that bad.

Pretty happy with how the fixtures have fell for us
