Training Games

Lots to be pleased about today......much more so than Thursday . Some really nice football, players obviously trying hard to impress the management....three good strikers on view, Sean being terrific in midfield, his versatility obviously offering good options in terms of team selection for the opening games. Harrison Gilkes shone in his 45 minutes, good passing as well as contributing two goals, both well taken. Choosing 4 midfielders will be a tough but nice job for the managers, and that is without seeing Togwell and Nathan Webb

Even more reasons to look forward to August 6th.....we may even be as good as Neil and Jon are saying !!!

I thought Godalming had two players that stood out, that being Dan Hicks and Adam New ! ha ha !

Good work out for all our lads, in what was hot conditions.

Excellent finishing,by all our goal scorers today. Getting 4 goals in any game is noteworthy, so well done Lee Barney for doing what he does best.

Charlie Moone's record of goal every other game should suffice ! [3 games, 2 goals] ! That will match Ed Smith goal scoring if he can keep it up! ha ha!

Sean Fraser's wonder goal was a particular highlight especially as he's not known for his prowess in front of goal. At this rate Sean's going to be in double figures by 2020 !   lol !

Liked the contribution made by Josh Jackman today but we need to see what he's like against better opposition. The Hendon tournament should be good for that.

All round a well spent, enjoyable Saturday morning.

I thought their keeper (even though he let in 8) was good. He had a thing about not letting Lewis score was it 4 or 5 times he stopped his shots with his feet?

To be honest I wasn't paying any attention to their keeper to noticed how good or bad he was. I'll take your word for it.

Good photo's as usual, Gary, except for one, where I think I need a hairpiece ! ha ha !

What was also promising, was all those young Slough supporters that attended the game ! lol !

It was because Godalming were light on players for this game. It worked for us too as we wanted to give our players as many minutes as possible. Plan before the game had just been for Dobbo and Adam to play for them but then they picked up a knock (Adam) just before half time so we game them Hicksy for the 2nd half. He had been due to play the 2nd half for us replacing Nisbet.

My first viewing of the squad today and have to say I was impressed with what I saw.

Despite the moderate opposition I thought every player played their part with work rate, movement and passing to feet being top draw.

Have to admit I didn't catch a good portion of the first half so cannot give a fair assessment of Charlie Moone and Gavin James.

Hard to pick out the exceptional players but have to say I was really impressed with Simon Dunn, Mark Nisbet and Lee Barney.

Simon Dunn looked a class act, Mark Nisbet looked solid and commanding at the back and Lee Barney's movement and clinical finishing was first rate.

It seems we are improving with every game and from what I saw our managers are going to have their work cut out to pick a first 11.
