Next Season

With the inclusion of Corby in our division in place of Cinderford IMO makes our division even more competitive than last season.

A lot of the top half teams from last season are strengthening their squads with some impressive signings.

As for us, if we can get our last two defensive signings right, I think we will finish top half with an outside chance of making the play-offs.

The team for me that will win the division will be Leamington, closely followed by Corby, Kettering, Weymouth and Chippenham.

I think it is daft to make predictions about our team Slough, in how they will do or won't do, until we've seen the squad we've assembled play a good number of games on a 3g pitch.

Every team in the division want success but as we know, getting it is far from easy.

I think those of us who have watched the team develop under Bakes and Unders, should not be expecting miracles to happen straight away. Bringing in the number of players we are, is going to take another period of time for players to settle and bed in.

That said I agree with all the necessary changes they're making.

This season a cup run is vitally important to put us back on the map, with the new stadium and all.

The league, I view differently. Chasing for a play off position has to be the aim but I'd settle for somewhere in a top 12 position come the end of the season, IF we get the cup run.

If the cup runs fail to materialise in the FA Cup or Trophy, then we must do well in the league.

Bakes and Unders seem to be putting themselves under undue pressure in the local papers by saying they might be out of the job if they don't do as well as expected.

I don't see it, this season, as their make or break [although other fans and the Chairman might ! gulp ! ].

I view it that expectations are going to be high, with newbies and olde fans coming out the woodwork, so it's important that our team functions well by playing entertaining, attacking football and that the players enjoy their football.

If we can get off to a better start with a number of wins to build momentum and confidence, unlike last season, we will have every chance that this squad can take a huge stride to getting us to challenge for honours.

Whatever, it should be fun watching.

Surely these new signings are not coming to Slough Town to settle for a top 12 spot certainly I would expect them to have ambition.

Yep, plain daft aiming for a play-off position or a top half finish

Predicting where a team is going to finish, when they haven't kicked a ball yet is daft IMO.

We all can wishful think as to what we can achieve, whether it happens is a different matter.

Every Slough fan wants the team to achieve promotion and cup honours [ except for maybe Jon Black!] , it's just I tend to add a touch of realism to proceedings on this topic and so that way, I'm not as disappointed if things don't go to plan.

I'm certain Rebel365 stated he wouldn't be commenting on this forum until the season started?

He loves the wit and charm of the personalities on here that he can't keep away ! ha ha ha !

Excellent interview and insight into why our new signings decided to join Slough rather than other clubs.

I think the main points put across is that they are all winners who are hungry for success and not just chasing the money. Also with the new ground they can see the ambition of the club to make that next step up to the Conference South.
