Reading Rebel
Some interesting names advertised for the Slough Legends day. Veli Hakki, Mark Hawthorne and Andrew Deaner, not sure of the time we saw these Slough legends?

GlenSTFC
I think RR is saying he doesn't class those players as 'legends'?
3spirit
I think RR is saying he doesn't class those players as 'legends'? I think that is subjective to whoever has watched them and we all form our own opinions. Any ex Slough player willing to give up their own time for the ' Legends Game ' deserve high praise indeed, regardless of what you thought of them at the time. Reading Rebel
I missed out the word 'last' So it should have read 'not sure of the last time we saw these Slough legends'

Stuntman Mark
I may be wrong but I think Veli Haki's spell with us came to an end with a spot of chokey at Her Majesty's pleasure... Cracking player mind.
Irishadrian
Mark you are correct He served a year in jail for his part in a violent riot (Millwall v Birmingham) and was banned from all football league grounds for 6 years Later as a Boreham Wood player he had to seek special dispensation from the FA and the Home Office to play in an FA Cup game at Blackpool which was granted. C'est la vie
I thought he played again for the Rebels after his stint of porridge? He may not have been a nice man off the pitch but what a player on it. One of my favourite all-time Slough players.

Reading Rebel
I don't think he was ever the same player for us after his stint inside.
David Carpenter
I agree - his play seemed to have become a bit shackled.
GlenSTFC
He always seemed penned in and couldn't escape.
Mark44
I remember that Spurs were sniffing around before he went to jail...... I also remember a story around teh judge practically admitting that if he was a professional the outcome might have been different.......
Graham Cox
Probably velli different !! Sorry !
3spirit
While there is only one real legends game locally that matters, that being 'the Rebels of Slough' ! I noticed in the Buck Free Press that, that lot up the road, the WW's scum, have got a leg-ends day against Penn and Tylers Green FC but they've dated it the 9th of July. Aren't we supposed to be playing Penn and Tylers Green in our first friendly that day? It needs checking out as it's on the 'old enemies' website, too ! Jon Underwood
Both games are on the the 9th. We kick off at 12 with the legends game at 3pm I believe.

Graham Cox
Great afternoon ...nice to see and talk to so many ex players......some can really still play a bit and the fitness levels for many were superb. Thanks to all who organised the day
David Carpenter
Yes a really enjoyable time. One of the highlights was the young lad (Paul Coyne's nephew I believe) who came on in the second half and put himself a bit including a it of a tumble with one of the biggest players. Congratulations to all the players and the officials.Went to the Hershel in the evening and and again very enjoyable (apart from England!) Thanks to all those who organised and run the event.
