16/17 First Additions To the Squad

Just thought it would help, as now you have declined the offer, you can say you were right all the time, and you are the only person that knows if you are lying or not.

Much more fun if you tell each other, then you can see who's right when it's announced

I see no point in lying HR. You don't get any brownie points for getting the player correct.

Seen Nisbet quite a few times at Maidenhead, less so this season as usually a substitute, however, no doubting the Conf. Sth. experience over several seasons. Stonehouse we all know and once again Conf. experience. Looks like we mean business folks!

Yes 2 solid experienced quality players, and with a possible back four line up of Fraser, Hollis, Nisbet, Stonehouse along with Mark Scott in goal on paper at least that's a pretty solid looking defence. With Warren, Harrison and Lewis competing for wing places, Dunn and Webb in the middle and Moone, James, Barney up front that's an exciting quality line up.

Don't forget, we will have other players in the squad who will be fighting for a place.

Although on paper we have recruited some quality players, no player has a divine right to be first choice, for me every player will have to prove in pre-season that they are worth their place in the starting 11.

Agree about players fighting for their place RR. It certainly appears we will be starting from an excellent jumping off point though with the new guys confirmed, some of the remaining guys from last season and also the trialists for preseason hopefully we won't end up struggling for numbers again and have a good strong season ahead.

So we have 1 more signing and then I'd guess that'll be it until pre-season starts and some will ask to train and trial in games. Wouldn't be surprised to see one or two depart before the start either. All in all shaping up very nicely to coincide with new stadium excitement this season should be cracker.

Bakes or Unders, will we be getting any news/updates on why they've decided to join Slough. I'm sure they must of had other options?

RR, we are both away at the minute but will be doing a rebels radio interview early next week where we will talk in more depth about the signings.

Delighted with what looks to be some great signings so far. Really shows what the new ground and moving back to our town can allow us to do.

If the players we already had and these new signings can gel well who knows what the limit we can achieve in the next few years is

Problem is some of those players we've signed will expect a starting place at least initially. When you're in demand and have a pick of clubs to choose from you're going to make some demands let's be honest.

I think it should be more of a positive than a problem.

When other players see the quality that's coming into the club I'd like to think they will see it more of a challenge than a threat and step up to the plate to win a place in the team. I think this can only be beneficial for the all round quality of next seasons squad and ultimately our chances of having a good season.

There lies the secret of our success, getting the old and new players to gel as a team.
