16/17 First Additions To the Squad

I think we'll stick with 3 forwards as we have Lewis and Warren who could play up top if required and loans can always come in. So I'd too expect a defender or two to arrive plus anyone who impresses during the friendlies.

We have no left back so that's a must and IMO we're still in need of that elusive leader at the back.

All in hand hopefully however peoples time scales are different, so I would probably not expect any announcements until mid June or so I would guess.

Also in terms of Charlie it is a great signing for us, he is a smashing lad who I am sure will become a fans favourite, he scored 118 goals in 202 starts and 55 sub appearances at Hampton which is a fantastic record, especially as that has either been at step 2 or 3.

I'd like to see 1 more striker in the squad as whilst Warren and Lewis can do a job, and we have some back up players in the squad currently, I think running 4 strikers is far stronger for the squad as a whole. It'll be just all we need for something to happen to one of the 3 strikers and then we are struggling for numbers again.

Will be interesting to see preseason who some of the trialists are and how they could fit into an already better looking squad.

If we are looking for a fourth striker, I would love to see us going for a youngster that has maybe been released from a professional club.... somewhere between 18 and 20 years old that might actually turn out to be a Marcus Rashford at our level.

Am sure Charlie will score loads of goals for you,all you need now is his pal from up the road at Maidenhead Dave Tarpey and your home and hosed. :D

Im well pleased with the new intake so far  Neil and Jon have now  a huge problem to address  Who will be the captain? Possibly someone not yet  a Slough Town player?  Who do you think would be the best candidate?

100% agree with that Curtis. 3 more experienced strikers and a younger lad that is looking to make a bit of a name for himself would be ideal.

I'm not as convinced that a young striker is what we need to start the season with, as we still have to see how our other three strikers will fair. I would rather see another proven one added .

4 strikers till Xmas, then release one if we have to balance the books.

On the subject of captain i would give it to Sean all day long. Being captain for the games at the end of last season seemed to galvanise his own personal performances and, although not the loudest, he inspired the team as well. He'd be my personal choice.

Sean has put himself forward for the role, however we have not made our mind up on it yet and probably will not do so until midway through pre season, this decision may depend a little bit on who else comes in, though he is being considered, as Radders said he really stepped up not only on the field but off it at the back end of the season, and we would have no issues if we went down that route as he does command respect from his teammates which is key.

It's a very attacking midfield. Will Nathan Webb and Ryan Hope be tasked with the defensive side?

I certainly agree that our midfield, as it stands, looks to be very attack minded.

Does anyone think that we will need an 'enforcer' to bolster our midfield and give our defence some protection?

Perhaps some people think either Nathan Webb or Ryan Hope can be that enforcer. Personally I'm not so sure.

As was said on another thread a while ago Sean would make the ideal captain. If you watch him he has been advising/guiding team mates for a long time

and does it in a way that he does not need to make a lot of noise about it. He has worked with some very high profile managers and coaches through his

younger years and is developing into a very solid reliable player.

whatever our managers decision I am certainly one supporter looking forward to next season and hoping slough will be pushing for promotion.
