Neutral
What do people think about this idea? Other leagues at this step (6) such as the North West Counties League do it. Could be an excellent way to raise money for clubs and the profile of the league. Plus hugely exciting and an opportunity for players to impress in front of a large crowd. Munchkin
Not generally a fan of play offs, promotion should be a reward for consistency over a season not an end of season cup competition. Plus not sure adding additional fixtures is needed.
Jonno
Agree with Munchkin. Can't see any real financial benefit at this level that will make a difference, prefer winners to be rewarded, not 4th place and as we saw this season, additional fixtures are not required on top of an already heavy schedule. It's a no from me.
Uncle T
Too many games already. The league is a league not a 2 round cup competition.
LoucasX
I am a big fan of play offs. Gives a lot more teams something to play for in the last few months of season. As a fan I love the big occasions and there is nothing more exciting than a match that decides whether you get promoted.

wgc daz
the problem is if there is a large gap between 3rd and 4th, like this year: 2nd Crawley Green 86 3rd Baldock 82 4th Harpenden 71 Baldock have been considerably better (11 points) would be unfair for them to miss out
thecoldend
At Step 2, Step 3 and Step 4 they've been a breath of fresh air for teams attracting more fans to clubs and keeping what would of been stagnant boring league tables, with top two/one running away with promotion, very interesting and exciting. It would of been good to see 3rd Baldock Town v 4th Harpenden Town and the winners play Colney Heath (3rd from bottom in Premier) in one off play off final game...similar to system they use in Scotland Can't see the arguments against as long as teams know the rules before the season starts... just look at Championship, League One and Two .. the best most exciting and well attended games are probably play off matches. I have been saying for years the SSMFL should give it a go at Div 1 to Premier level. A little bit more difficult at a step 5 to 4 level as only one up usually
redimp
Cut one of the relatively minor Cups. Play off more interesting and financially viable.
thecoldend
or if people are against that due to the pts difference between 3rd and 4th then a one off match Baldock Town (3rd in D1) v Colney Heath (3rd from bottom in Prem) One extra game wouldn't do anyone any harm and give progressive clubs one extra chance of promotion... Munchkin
No team at the bottom should get a 2nd bite of the cherry. Also what happens if that club loses and then get a reprieve. Makes the playoff ultimately pointless. If there were any play offs then it would have to be for promotion only and not protect from relegation. So many unknowns at Step 5/6 that don't exist at the steps above. I also don't think that play offs would have much difference to fan numbers at this level, but can see the impact on steps 4 and above.
Slidetacklelongthrow
I like the idea of play offs. Unless your challenging for top 2 the rest of the league is in holiday mode come March/April and the games, squads, crowds suffer. A reason to play makes sense. Yes I would be gutted finishing 3rd 11 points clear of 4th but if it means 3 or 4 clubs have more to play for come end of season then why not. As for the argument for too many games already will more be done to get more games played during early months of the season?
Karen Browne
As for the argument for too many games already will more be done to get more games played during early months of the season? I have proposed my suggestion to the Management Committee and should the clubs pass it at the AGM then yes. Basically all Premier and Division One clubs will have games every midweek from August until December
Ginola
I'm for them.Looks like KB has got the annual late season fixture postponement pile-up cluster**** sorted with a fine suggestion.Midweek games from when the sun be shining to the snow be falling. Why not 2 automatics and then:Finishing 3,4,5,6 extends the interest in the season for a perhaps a quarter of the teams in the league.Single game 3 v 6 4 v 5 and the the "final" at the home of the highest ranked team.No Extra time. Straight to penalties, should give 'Fosters the edge.
tringarmy
The only downside at our level is that you'll have to exclude teams with out the ground grading for the next division up, so you could end up with a team finishing in 8th or 9th promoted

LoucasX
I have proposed my suggestion to the Management Committee and should the clubs pass it at the AGM then yes. Basically all Premier and Division One clubs will have games every midweek from August until December That is going from one extreme to another. Midweek games in November means drop in attendances when clocks change. Why can't we just have midweek games to end October and perhaps a 2 or 3 week break in January? transitionperiod
Tringarmy hit the nail on the head, it comes down to ground grading and every team being eligible to be promoted which is difficult at this level of the game.
Neutral
Unless we clear out sides who don't have the ground grading, so every team in Div 1 is ready to go up? Which teams currently don't have the requisite requirements to go up?
Munchkin
That's extreme just to introduce play offs. Have to accept that some clubs will find their level at step 6 and be happy about that. Forcing clubs to aim for promotion when the infrastructure behind the club wouldn't sustain it, won't help.
