Equally if people come on the forum and express as you say trivial comments then others have a right to respond and that's their choice. If people posting on the forum don't like the idea of others disagreeing with them perhaps they should be the ones not to post in the first place.  With rights come of course obligations. I agree that we are in the end all Rebel supporters and want the same success but the problem with have with social media is that if comments are stated often enough  in the minds of some they become facts which perhaps they are not. So carry on posting everyone but remember the obligation of accepting  that everyone has an equal right to express their point of view. Just want us to all be happy bunnies. COYR!!

I think I agree with you Dave but not totally sure

There is no chance of getting decent pre season friendlies away from home, higher sides won't normally welcome lower level sides to them for friendly, seems like a slightly unwritten rule! Grand scheme of things it looks a half decent prep for the season against sides who don't seem historically to be 'cloggers' and overly physical and so the idea is to get through pre season fit, unscathed and with a good idea of what your best team is!

Does seem a bit of a silly thread but equally people have a view they should/can post it surely? Maybe I should start a Scott Harris isn't good enough thread to get everyone together again against me lol....

Inane chat is always the way during the off season! Roll on Aug!

Blimey, I didn't expect this reaction when I started this thread. Is what I wrote really that controversial.

All I said was that I thought we might of had a Conference side to play in friendlies, my logic being that it would be good publicity for going into the new stadium, as we haven't the opportunity to play home friendlies against any league sides.

Bakes, cleared up my point straight away, by telling me that Conferences sides aren't interested in playing sides like us at home and that next season things will be different.

Which has addressed my issue. End of.

After that Reading Rebel and I was sharing banter and beginning to chat about the Hendon tournament, which I'm sure ALL fans will think looks like being a worthwhile event, when in steams ARAAS telling us that he isn't happy about certain posters, which to me is like the 'school bully cum prefect ' coming along and telling the rest of the kids how to behave

Except this isn't a playground it's supposed to be a forum for ALL Slough Town FC fans to voice questions and have debates and discussions and talk about all things connected with our beloved team.

Now we all know, that there is always less to talk about, when we are between football seasons but whether you post on the forum now or when the season has started, ANY fan is entitled to this and it can't be about whether a fan isn't happy about it, can it?

As long as the postings fit within the forum rules.

If there are fans who have ' issues'  with certain fans posts, then I suggest they don't read them, that way they can not be offended.

My only issue is that if people post and other people wish to comment on that post then fair enough. As I stated previously if anyone posting doesn't like the thought of other people replying then perhaps they should not post in the first place in which case they won't be offended. It is something of a circular argument isn't it?

3 sprit, you may have noticed that I generally only post on here now to put important news out to the fans. I very rarely post my opinions on games or anything else.

I hear more complaints about this forum from people than pretty much anything else. How posts keep going around and around the same points over and over. How anyone who posts positive things after defeats are deemed to be sucking up to the management and players. How people make posts about things that they have no clue about and then shout down or ignore people who actually do. People blowing small things out of proportion. People who only post when there's something to moan about.

It might be a place for all Slough fans to discuss our club, but it seems that in recent seasons so many have decided not to post on here anymore.

There are threads on here which go around and around with very little actually being said, meanwhile posts to do with important things like, for example, promotion events that volunteers work very hard to set up and run, get ignored.

I am merely pointing out after several years of watching this forum get increasingly frustrating.

And before anyone points it out, my views are independent of the Club and Trust.

This is my last post on the subject.

My only problem IS.

Some people put posts up and when you question that post (which as everyone is entitled to) your called Forum Mafia or A Club Suck-up, and turn it round on that person.

And by the way Dan is on the TRUST board which is separate from the club as is this forum.

David, I agree, every Slough Town fan is entitled to voice their opinion or join in the discussion on the forum but I don't believe that fans should slag other fans off, just because they have some sort of issue with them or with what they've written.

A joke yes, even a bit of banter, but we can't have fans acting as censorship, when no one has given them that job.

What aren't we allowed to comment on the forum now?

When did they make you in charge of it?

Look ARAAS not looking for an argument but what is the point of a forum, if you going to be shot down for asking a question [however inane it's deemed to be].

Stuart, ALL Dan said was HIS own view on what has been said, and HOW it has been said on this forum over the last few months.

You then had an issue with what he said, and accused him of trying to run the forum and not allowing you to say what you want.

This thread was going along ok until you replied to him.

THIS IS NOT THE CASE, he is NOT stopping you from putting your own views, his is stating his OWN view on what he sees, In EXACLTY the same way that you and the others state that people have rose tinted glasses, or are running the club line, or are trying to stop others talking, if they are trying to be positive about something,

They are NOT, they are only putting their view across.

So, to state your own words... If you have an issue with what Dan and others are saying, read it in a way that you are not offended.

and when you are typing something as "Banter" take into account the way that other people will read it, as with the written word, ONLY the writer knows exactly what was meant.

There are a lot of people getting sick of these replies to a valid statement, from someone who has a different viewpoint, rather than retuning with a valid and reasonable debate on what was said.

After all we are ALL supporters of the SAME club and we all want the SAME thing for the club.... success

(This is all my own personal views, and nothing to do with the club in any way)

Now I wait for the onslaught

I probably don't get to hear all that 'negative stuff' about the forum, that you obviously do, Daniel.

I suppose that is because you have more involvement with the club on a day to day basis than I do.

Not a criticism just a fact.

Anyone who gives up their valuable time to help the club in anyway has my respect but this forum in my eyes is a separate component of the club and needs to be treated as so.

The forum is for ALL Slough fans to comment. Regardless of club policy and regardless of Trust members.

Anyway this is supposed to be an unofficial forum.

Even if the club set up an official forum for only Trust members, we would still get arguments and personality clashes. Unfortunately that is a fact of life !

I do think you have me wrong about my motives for my posts. In my defence, I love a good debate but loathe heavy handed censorship.

Being handed the job of being a moderator, I try to be fair to ALL posters. That has to be what a moderator is about but essentially I'm a fan like everyone else and if I think there's a subject worth debating I will put it up.

Also if someone is going put up 'posts' which are clearly antagonising then obviously a person has the right to respond, as long as it doesn't go on to be a tit for tat argument for pages and pages.

In this regard I am not referring to the discussion we are having, Daniel.

So I'm ready to move on to the next topic. Roll on getting some player news ! ha ha !
