We have arranged 7 home pre-season friendlies ahead of the 2016/17 league season.

 

On Friday 8^th July, Banstead Athletic are the visitors at 7.30pm. The A's finished sixth in CCL division 1 last season where, at one stage, a higher finish looked likely. Inconsistency towards the end of the season, four defeats in their last seven games means they have to go again this season where they will be looking for a promotion place at least.

On Tuesday 12^th July, we welcome Ashford Town (Mx) for a 7.45pm kick off. The Tangerines were promoted from the CCL premier division last season by virtue of their runners up position and Hartley Wintney's failure re their ground grading. They will compete in the Southern league Central division this season and they will provide a stern test of the new Wood squad.

On Saturday 16^th July at 3pm, Eastbourne Town are very welcome visitors. The Town were runners up in the Southern Combination Premier Division last season, 11 points behind champions Horsham. We played them in the FA Cup last season, losing 0-2 at Wibbandune. They were as good a side as we played all season so this will be another strong challenge for The Wood boys.

On Thursday 21^st July at 7.30pm, we welcome our old CCL friends from Croydon. The Trams finished a disappointing 18^th of 19 teams in the Southern Counties Eastern league last season, their first season since leaving the CCL and will be hoping to improve on that this time around.

On Saturday 23^rd July at 3pm, it's the landlords v tenants as we face Balham, newly promoted to the CCL division 1 this season. The Blazers finished runners up to Horsley in the Surrey Elite League last season playing out of Cobham FC. Their exciting brand of football should ensure another good season in the higher division and, therefore, an entertaining game here is promised.

The following Saturday the 30^th July also at 3pm, we welcome Sheerwater who had a difficult season in CCL division 1 last season but some improved results at the end of the season for The Sheers ensured a 13^th placed finish out of 18.

With the FA Cup extra preliminary round brought forward to Saturday 6^th August, we have approached the league to organise a midweek league game on 2^nd or 3^rd August ahead of the cup tie for which we await the draw.

 

On Tuesday 9^th August, we have decided to retain the exciting looking friendly against Tooting & Mitcham United which kicks off at 7.45pm. The Terrors finished 17^th in the Ryman League South last season. This friendly is their final warm up game ahead of their league season kick off on 13^th August and we hope a good sized crowd will attend. This match is subject to any FA Cup replay being required of course.

Admission for the first 6 pre-season friendlies is “pay what you can”.

There will be a bucket where you can donate what you wish towards the costs of us staging these matches. Every little helps so thank you, in advance, for your gesture.

 

Admission for the Tooting & Mitcham United game will be £5 for adults and £2 for concessions.

We are producing a 24 page programme/brochure to cover all of our pre-seaon matches priced at £1.50 and available at the club bar only.

Nearest Railway Station - Raynes Park Station is a good 25 minute walk to the ground (or catch bus 57 outside the station to Holland Avenue then it is a 10 minute walk along the A3 (northbound).

Bus - London Transport 265 (Putney Bridge to Tolworth route) southbound stops right outside the ground and "Wibbandune" is announced on board. (Please cross via footbridge if heading on the northbound bus).

Car Parking - Car parking in the ground is extremely limited. You are advised to park in the Robin Hood Way slip road opposite the ground via the northbound carriageway of the A3 and cross by the footbridge. Disabled persons should contact the club in advance to reserve an in ground parking space.
