Curfews 0 Ash Trees 5

Our most complete performance of the season, on a rock hard and bobbly pitch, up against the usual physical Chertsey set-up and getting next to no protection from an appalling ref who should definitely have sent off one Chertsey player and maybe another.

Two minutes in, Max suffered an over-the-ball set of studs into his shin - no card. Eight minutes later, Bitz followed up a blocked effort with a rasper into the far corner from 15 yards out. Half an hour in, Bitz was pulled back by the last defender, the same player who'd caught Max. The ref played 'advantage', gave a free kick to Chertsey when play broke down and didn't even talk to the offender. His ineptitude caused our lads to lose focus for a few minutes and we looked a bit rattled but saw the half out with no damage.

As with Redhill away, we went in at half time with less than the deserved lead but put that right after the break. We still had to endure the most appalling decision of the evening early in the second half, though, when Brad was hauled down by the keeper in the process of rounding him. No penalty, no card, no guts by the ref.

Bitz thumped the ball home in the 50th and scored his hat-trick from the spot in the 59th after a needless handball from a cross. We oozed class all over the pitch and restricted Chertsey to a handful of efforts while managing 20-30 efforts in the match, and Alex got a deserved goal in the 69th after good work by sub Perry. Another sub, Dan, laid on an inch perfect ball for Bitz to wallop home his fourth in the 91st.

Very difficult to pick a man of the match. Everyone was up for it and we played some sublime football, with Weighty rolling back the years yet again.

One last big effort on Saturday, lads. Believe.

An even better result, what with Camberley being held to a draw.

So no mistakes Saturday lads, and here's hoping Hartley Wintney do us a favour next week.

We played too many long balls in the first half and our defence was  too deep. But second half, shortened our play and produced one of the best halves of football of the season.

Although there were lots of good displays but only one man of the match, Mark Bitmead, 4 goals and really good all round play. Mark finds scoring goals at this level so easy, we don't always appreciate how good he is. How many goals this season, 38 or so can't be bad?

seriously none of the goals were solo goals nearly all the goals were started from our full backs bombing on that's where we are dangerous and with our short play we play teams off of the park ,your right about the long balls in the first half we did shorten the passes that's how we scored 5 brilliant performance all round well done lads really enjoyed the game

Depending on results Monday's fixture Hartley v Camberley could mean a mass movement of committee and fans from Ashford to Hartley.

First things first, a small matter of a trip to Epsom.

That is indeed an excellent and unbiased report by Chertsey, so fair play to them.

It did feel weird seeing John Pomroy playing in defence. Like several around me, I was impressed with Chertsey's number 11 Andy Crossley.
