Hungerford would be punching miles above their weight if they get promoted. Will gates exceed 150? What's the seating requirement in Conf Sth? Good luck to them whatever.

Shame we've got the usual 6 point loss to Redditch to contend with next season again......... if we don't get shunted across to Isthmian!!

Whitehawk's isn't great nor Concord by all accounts, so they would be in good company. Will Hungerford allow the bloke with the viewing platform in his garden to continue watching over the fence?

So with kings langley, Cinderford, Banbury, St Ives, Basingstoke, Havant, Hayes and potentially Corby and lowestoft all suited to the Southern premier catchment....what we do reckon of the chances of being moved to the Ryman league with our move back to Slough?

Or in short why were Burnham, Marlow and Flackwell Heath placed in Southern League S&W last season just finished whereas Petersfield were placed in Southern Central?

They weren't to begin with. Burnham, Marlow and Flackwell Heath were initially Central and Petersfield (and Fleet) S&W but when Clevedon were expelled, all were swapped (Redbridge were reprieved in the IL and Ware moved from IL1N to SLC).

Flackwell then rejected their place and were replaced by Winchester.

Still doesn't make sense that Petersfield were placed in the Central league and Burnham in the S&W.

I don't have a hotline to the FA so I can only guess.

Having to replace a Somerset club with one from Essex meant moving others east to west. Ware went from IL1N to SLC from which someone had to go to SLSW. Burnham, Marlow and Flackwell were the most westerly clubs in the Central and all close together in a little group. The FA presumably wanted to keep them together geographically and moved them all as one. That meant two going the other way: Petersfield and Fleet. Flackwell then refused their place. The FA didn't want to send the others back again so the allocations stayed as they were.

It would certainly have been easier to move just Flackwell. Four clubs were messed about by being moved three weeks after the line-ups were announced.

Norton thanks for the detailed explanation. I understand the difficulties that occur with ground allocations each close season but am still perplexed by the decisions under discussion. You mention that it would have been easier in the first place just to move Flackwell Heath. Another option on first allocation would have been to move Goldalming to S&W and place Flackwell Heath in the Central. Flackwell Heath would have probably stayed then although of course Goldalming would have probably objected despite having played in the S&W previously. Certainly at last years' Southern League AGM which I attended the general consensus seemed to be that the decisions taken were wrong.
