Swifty
Our fourth cup semi-final defeat of the campaign. Must be a record. We started brightly but faded and lost the rhythm after a quarter of an hour. In the 28th minute our defenders backed off and backed off (for the second time in quick succession) and allowed Kamaron English all the time and space to fire a good shot low into the corner from the edge of the box. We needed a purposeful start after the break but, in the 53rd, the ref gave a questionable penalty when Tyler was adjudged to have brought down a Villa attacker when he was reaching to retrieve a low ball. Jack Buckle scored the penalty and, in truth, we never looked like pulling it back after that. Villa hit a post and had a shot cleared off the line and, despite some fine interplay in the second half, we didn't come as close. Not sure if the lads were tired, or not up for it, or both. All I can say is that it's a huge disappointment to lose semis in such fashion on successive Tuesdays, and we need to shake this game out of our system and go all guns blazing for the last four games. Leave everything on the pitch, no half measures, and do everything we can to clinch second place.
ashford follower
a very frustrating night for fans and players I would have thought , can I ask what are the roles are all the coaches ben, mark ,david , pat and then bringing terry in , must be unusual to have 5 coaches at this level must also be confusing for the players. Swifty
Pat's actually our physio (when the players lunge, he gets the sponge, Patty, Patty Munns!) and I'm pretty sure he doubles up as goalkeeping coach when needed.
