Google search / Bad press

I'm not sure this is the case for others but when I search "Slough Town FC Twitter" into google near the bottom of the page there are two articles from the Slough Observer from a few years ago about a certain David Deeney and the problems he caused on twitter.

For any potential new fans, especially next year, if they saw these articles they probably wouldn't be too impressed. I doubt it would put them off the club at all but they still don't make for good reading. Would it be worth the club asking the Slough Observer to remove these articles from their website, considering they are from 2013 surely they wouldn't mind.

Just trying to think about the clubs image for next year.

If you search on "Slough Town" or "Slough Town FC", which most new or returning people would do, then that does not come up.

That only comes up when you add in "Twitter" to the search criteria (as you did), which only a few would do, as the Twitter account is one of the returning results from the above search.

On soccerbase his profile states that he has not played for anybody all of 2015/16.

Saw him play for Arlesey Town against Uxbridge last november, his brother Ashley also played in a 4-0 win for Uxbridge, Dont think either have played recently though.

I think it would be a mistake to approach a newspaper and ask them to remove items totally accurate in their content  These are some of the mildest tweets regarding Deeney on line   Ive just been reading his tweet when he threatened to stab opposing  fans ! Luckily our current managers do seem to take players known characters into account before signing them up .

It seems pretty trivial stuff and IMO not something that will put anyone off or be of concern to anyone who would be thinking about coming to watch us next season.

If you're worried about it appearing on searches SRJ, this thread, you started, will now also appear on them

First, this thread would NOT come up on the first page of searches.

Second, the first link on the search results page does NOT take you to the clubs Twitter page but to the clubs old Twitter page. Some people will not notice that the current Twitter page is mentioned on the old one so would go back to the Google search. The first link to the current Twitter page is sandwiched directly inbetween the two observer articles.

These are the results I get from my google search. Not everyone is guarenteed to get the same result.

it seems most people's answer to my original question is that they don't care about the article so no point asking to remove it.
