Merstham v Enfield Town - match fred

Tally Ho

Recommended Posts

The two 4-0 wins recently has helped our goal difference a lot.Which could be crucial.

IF our two main challengers for the 5th spot win their game(s) in hand then Kingstonian would still only be 3 points in front of us with a WORSE goal difference. Dulwich would be 2 points in front of us with a BETTER goal difference.

So both are only one defeat away from us overtaking them.So it will go down to the last game of the season, if we win our home game against Needham Market next saturday.

I wrote a few weeks ago that the final game of the season at Hampton could be potentially nerve shredding for both sets of fans...

Hampton needing to win or draw to win the title

Enfield Town needing to win to get into the play-offs???

Think it's best to get three points v Needham Market next weekend first!!!!

Great performance yesterday, particularly in the 2nd half. Where was Brad?

The management team that took charge made a crucial decision that changed the game in our favour. Looked like we started with 3/5 at the back with Alfred Mugabo as one of the 3 centre backs (where was Harold Joseph?). Tyler was getting roasted by an impressive Merstham No 11 but we switched to four at the back, swapping Micky Parcell with Tyler and pushing Mugabo back into midfield too. Worked a treat - Parcell has a great future in centre midfield but showed yesterday what a good defender he is too. Nullified the threat from their 11 and the extra man in midfield made the difference in the second half.

Corey is on fire at the moment - hope he's fit for next week after going off injured.

A mention for Merstham - their fun day seemed to be a success and I hope we all spent some money there to make up for their incredible gesture providing free entrance. Looked like a proper community club, hopefully some of those youngsters will make up their support in future years.
