successful fa ground inspection for Hoddesdon

Recommended Posts

The one "tweak" mentioned by Mr Merton in The Mercury article is a big one!   Hoddesdon Town FC will not be able to use the pitch at the beginning and end of the season.  This is due to the terms of the lease held by both the cricket and football clubs, which I believe has many years to run!

In light of this, LC have wasted a LOT of money on players this year then!

Ignorance is bliss!!

Some people haven't got a clue what they are talking about. Villagelad is spot on, some clubs like Hertford, Berko, Welwyn and even Biggleswade are throwing around the coffers, like its a big deal being paid to play in the Spartan Prem. FACT - AFC and Hoddesdon arguably have the biggest budgets in the division by far (no coincidence they are top two right now, and don't talk about what wonderful players they have, 45% not bad, the rest bang average) FACT - Colney have virtually no budget at all, they are the best team and have been extremely unlucky with the fixture back log, some of it unfortunate and some it down to poor planning. FACT - The FA need to be far more accommodating with regards to supporting clubs with ambition, helping them and encouraging them if in a position to gain promotion, rather than doing the complete opposite.

In truth, the whole non league system/structure needs to be looked at. All this rubbish about turnstiles, toilets, stands etc........what for 2 women (if your lucky) 30 blokes and a couple of dogs and that's on a good day!!!!

The whole process is a JOKE!

Leagues at this level and above should be limited to 18 teams per division (END OF)! 34  league games a season + all the cups, you would avoid all this crazy fixture pileup in March and April, which more often than not ends up effecting those fighting relegation or those going for promotion (like Colney who have to play 4 games in eight days)!

End of every season, topics that must be discussed by non league forum law:

Budgets - so and so has loads, we have none.

Fixtures - aren't they rubbish

League champions - weren't the best side, got lucky or had biggest budget

FA - what are they doing

Ground Grading - I know something you don't.

Great post - FACT lol

doesn't matter if it's 5p a point, it's still a waste of money if they're not going up. No matter how big or small.

London colney pay minimal expenses. And have done since they were in division 1which they eventually won by 15 points it was never the main ambition of the club to be promoted to southern league but having taken 4 seasons or so to build a side capable of challenging for the title the amount of money it has cost has not increased significantly ,so I fail to see how money has been wasted, the fact that Colney could win the league. And not get promoted is a blow to all involved.the playing budget at the moment is no more than when Julian Robinson was manager 6years ago.
