v Chippenham

Recommended Posts

Fantastic fight, spirit and grit from 1-11. To beat a team of that physicality with a right back at centre half and a winger at full back was immense. Fraser had an unbelievable game marking a massive front pairing out of the game to restrict them, with just a couple of exceptions, to half chances. Webb and hope in the centre of midfield were tireless for the 90 and Charlie and barney have their huge back 4 a lot of bother. Really proud of the team today and having not seen a game for a month I don't know what all the fuss on here has been about!!! ;)

TOTAL FRUSTRATION!

Why can't we play like this every week - more chances today than in the whole of March.

A makeshift team with players out of position who took the bull by the horns and stuffed it up a very physical Chippenham side who should have been desperate to win today.

Today the midfield worked and gave the defence the protection it needs and serviced the forwards to allow attacks.

A lot can be learnt from todays performance and those who played - Gary got the 90 mins he deserved and proved his worth, there were plenty of others who have now got themselves back in the team for next season.

Trent and Unders Rebel Army ..........!

Brilliant effort from all the team today, what character they showed. Well done to all involved.

Hard to pick a man of the match as there was so many to choose from ie Sean Fraser, Ryan Hope, Gary Gokman, Tom Williams, Charlie Mpi but shading it for me was Nathan Webb, who had a blinder.

Firstly apologies to anyone listening through Rebels Radio we had a few technical difficulties and had to create a new stream, hopefully you found it.

Once again thank you to Marcus for helping out, much appreciated.

On to the game and a make shift back 4 with Fraser at CB and Warren Harris at RB against two huge centre forwards but they did excellently.

As Radders said, 1-11 all played fantastically and with purpose. A well earned 3 points and clean sheet against a play off chasing side. Chippenham are probably the biggest team we will play physically.

A couple of players I would highlight.

Mark Scott needs to put some glue on his gloves but he made some very good saves to keep a well deserved clean sheet.

Sean Fraser playing CB against the monsters of Griffin and Sandell but did fantastically well and even won several headers.

Tom Williams had a tough battle against Sandell all day long and got an elbow in the face for his troubles but he still came out on top.

Warren Harris playing at RB did very well in an unusual position and pushed forward well when he could.

Nathan Webb won pretty much every tackle he went into and helped protect the defence vey well.

Gokmen made the most of a rare start and surely has put a marker down to be considered to start the remaining matches. Surely.

Barney and Mpi ran their socks off today and hassled the big defenders and forced chances for themselves.

Much better performance today and hopefully we can kick on and carry on in the final 3 matches.

p.s. maybe Baker should miss a few more games, we always seem to win when he is away. :P

Really gutsy performance against a top six side and we deserved the narrow win. Disappointed with the attitude of some Chippenham players who were clearly frustrated by the character and determination we showed...........performance at least equal to, if not better, than against Weymouth. As others have said, everyone was outstanding today but my payer of the game was Sean who was absolutely immense in a position that is very different from his usual full back berth......and a good captain today to boot.

Superb performances from 1-11. If players are playing for the places next year they certainly all put their hands up today. Everyone put in a great shift. For me MOTM was between Warren Harris and Sean Fraser for incredible performances out of position to help grind out a clean sheet and three crucial points.

I get frustrated by lack of consistency as I am sure the gaffers are too. But Slough have been consistently inconsistent since the dawn of time so I am not sure why anyone should be surprised.

But to defend the players you have to remember that full time professional clubs struggle for consistency despite their players being pampered and having nothing else to think about from a working perspective.

Look at Arsenal, lost 2-1 at home to Watford three weeks ago and rock up today and hammer them 4-0. Imagine how bad they would be if their players had full time day jobs too!

Chippenham obviously were desperate to win but sometimes the more desperate you are the more your performance suffers.

Clive, don't get too hasty now, they're back in your good books at least until next week   ;)

A superb performance full of grit and determination.

From 1-11 every player played their part not giving Chippenham time to settle into their rhythm and in the end we could have run out more comfortable winners with a few chances going begging towards the end of the game.

MOTM would be deserved to any one of the team but surely it must go to Warren Harris or Sean Fraser for their superb out of position performances.

Sean did do well but that's not to under estimate the performance of Tom Williams who was immense at the back today and I'm sure his experience was a great help to Sean..

Great result and performance! Williams is a very good player and a steadying influence without a doubt! Massive credit to Ryan Hope who I thought had a great game, really pleased for Barney to get his goal as well and show what he can do.

Well done all, that's what everyone wants to see! Lots of heart and some quality on a tough pitch!
