Kirk: what crap. How else are you supposed to judge someone then?

Employ a manager with no experience who has done nothing?

Think Newcastle,Sunderland,Villa,Derby,Wolves etc etc. All have had managers that have had reasonable past success, but couldn't go that extra mile.

Some people want to run with the fox and hunt with the  hounds The managers are criiticised for playing Mpi ( a proven goalscorer) whilst all the talk is about how we cant score a goal !

My point about Charlie Mpi is based upon a point of principle/fairness rather than his ability to score.

BTW Lee Barney's a proven scorer as well. He might not have set the world on fire but some players take a little more time to settle at a new club.

Steve Bateman came in to save us from relegation with two months left to go in 08/09 and did so, Only 1 year after we avoided relegation thanks to a reprieve !!!

The following year he took us into the play offs, losing in the final to a very strong Chesham side.

He also took us on our best FA Cup run in 10 years

So come on fans have a bit of realism please !!!

Steve Bateman came to us with two briefs, save us from relegation and to get us promoted. Big credit to him for saving us from relegation, getting us into the play-offs a few times and for having a good cup run but failed in his ultimate challenge which was to get us promoted.

.......but we gave him 5 and a half years to do it !

Bakes and Unders replaced him and achieved what he couldn't do - Promotion in their first season.

Last season, priority was staying up - They did it.

This season we were on course to finish higher than last season, which is still possible. Then for no fault of the managers they've lost their two best strikers and a couple of our better attacking players have gone off the boil.

Hardly a sacking offence, is it?

How do you know that another manager would do any better? You don't.

Why I said 'realism' is that you and a few others appear to have no regard for the merits of our managers and are not taking into account budget constraints, the form of players and the loss of two of our best players, both of whom create chances from nothing.

We've also lost two very experienced driving forces in midfield in Leigh Rumbold and Adrian Sear.

Yet by your reckoning,we have to wave a magic wand and expect that Slough are going to keep winning games by distance, without a few trials and tribulations.

Now that's what I call ' baloney ' and that's putting it politely !

I have never said that either of our managers have done a bad job or should be sacked and have never even come close to implying that.

Show me any proof!!!

So your rant towards me is completely unjustified and unfair.

But let's look at the players you mentioned. The managers knew in advance that Mpi and rumbould were not going to be here for the whole season. (Mpi they may have only found out about mid season but still well in advance of his actual departure). Next Adrian Sears who has had well documented injury problems since before he even joined us so it is not exactly a huge surprise to anyone that he has been injured, by no means a dig as I would never wish injury on any player. Backups should have always been considered. Finally Ed Smith who was RELEASED by our managers (correctly so if you know why) but still it was THEIR decision.

So all four of those players have gone or out injured with the managers knowing the risks/future of the players. All completely predictable and not big surprises.

Sloughboy -reference your earlier post. Slighty contradictory? Not going on and on? Nothing personal except that I am baffled!

What's your issue David???

Are you trying to goad me into a tirade of comment about Scott Harris or what?? I commented about him not being good enough, got shot down in no uncertain terms! Since then he has far from done anything to disprove that! If anything it's strengthened my view, the fella is far from good enough!

There you go? I could have gone into much more detail, that was the point! Sorry I baffled you! Lots of things baffle me as well but heyho!

I don't rant. Calm down, dear.

SRJ you're entitled to your opinion, as is everyone, I have no qualms about that, but on this present thread, you, SloughBoy and your pa, Rebel1965 and Kirk are the ones moaning about the football you're all watching and are having a go at the managers, I'm not.

Don't you think we all want to watch a Slough team playing great football and winning games? !

The difference between you and the others I've mentioned, and from me and my view, is that I think you're being harsh and unreasonable to where Slough as a team are currently at, given all the circumstances that have happened of late.

There was a lot of plus points about Steve Bateman as a manager and our chairman and board gave him time [5 and a half years] to iron out the problems. All teams have ups and downs.

I believe Bakes and Unders should have, at least, the same amount of time as Steve had, to improve our team.

They've already been more successful than Steve by getting us promotion, the prime goal that all of us wanted when in the Central division.

Admittedly cup results haven't gone well yet but if we can get a team that challenging for honours, better cup runs will come.

I get as frustrated as the next man [ or woman, don't want to be sexist! ] when our football is awful to watch and results don't go our way but at the moment I think most of us recognise that you won't win much with an under strength and under firing/less than confident side in this Premier division but I'm not as over the top about the things that are going wrong on the pitch, as you lot are.

A single match or a few games, doesn't make a season.

Currently this SEASON we are sitting in 16th, possibly lower if the teams below us pick up points from their games in hand. Frome probably will if they carry on their recent form.

The final league table made up of a WHOLE season doesn't lie, we will wait and see where we finish.

Hopefully it is higher than we are now.

3spirit, what EXACTLY have I said that you deem unreasonable. Looking back at what I have posted nothing has been critical towards any one in the team or the managers. All I have ever said is that we are too predictable at the moment and should try shacking things up, which is something you yourself have also said previously.

How many of the march games have you come away happy and entertained?

For me only the games against Weymouth and Dunstable were good. I wasn't at bideford or Frome though.

So have you been happy to see just 1 goal in 6 games?!?!

Of course not, and I don't believe the managers are, either !
