Totally disagree! First half we were the better team. We just didn't take our chances and we seemed to not shoot. Nathan Webb was my motm he snatched the ball every chance he got so to say he didn't play well is poor. Every one seems to forget we are also missing key players. Hicks is away, guy got injured and after ed leaving and mpi been out for a while give the lads their due. I am sure the managers will evaluate over the break and come back stronger with us being in our new grounds And it will be a fresh start. And maybe gain some positivity

not a great deal in it in terms of general play but it was same old story for us recently.

bitterly disappointing that both goals came within 10 seconds or so of us having a shot or having sustained time of possession in and around their box. lots of huffing and puffing but unfortunately until the very end of the 2nd half I never felt we were going to score.

not going to pretend I know why we have been so bad in front of goal recently but we can't just keep saying we are unlucky. we have barely scored a goal and have only 2 points from the last 6 games. lost for words as to how to work out why we don't seem to even look like we are going to get shots away and test the keeper. even games we have decent amount of chances we don't take advantage

2 games in a few weeks with Hungerford where personally I don't think Hungerford have played that great (effective but not outstanding) against us and yet their keeper has made 2 maybe 3 saves over the 2 games and not been tested properly at all that I can remember.

trying to not be too negative but today has really riled me. infuriating that it was yet again same old story for us.  :( so frustrating

Mr Rebel, the problem seems to be that nobody seems to want to take the responsibility to take a shot, in case it misses. We are too focussed on playing crosses from the wings.

This has been happening for awhile.

What's mystifying is we obsess about long throws and crosses from outside the penalty area into the box, when our forwards don't often get on the end of them and yet shots from long range and short range appear to be discouraged.

Unfortunately we haven't many players who can strike a ball cleanly but I would hope there will be shooting practice at training on Tuesday and Thursday, as we are desperate for better than we are getting.

Was that aimed at me? If so at least tag me in it. I thought every ones opinions was welcome on this forum?

They are.

Don't tell me you're turning into a shrinking wallflower, Hammer Rebel, things won't be the same without the real you !  ha ha ha !

Hammer Rebel it wasn't aimed at you specifically but some people need to be more realistic and not constantly blinded by their love of the club.

Every one wants our team and our players to be successful but need to realise that they aren't always perfect and sometimes are below standard for sustained periods of time, every one has a bad game. People also need to realise that other teams can be better than us in games and the reason we lose is because they are better than us.

Everyone who know me knows that I am always behind the team even when they are playing badly but I am also realistic. In the last few away games I have been at and not commentating I have been the only person starting the chants to try to help the players during games.

Rebel1965 is alluding to whether the Chairman needs to change the management during the close season. I think the majority wouldn't agree with this (myself included) but I think we need more than 2 or 3 quality player additions. It'll be a tough summer deciding who to keep and let go and no doubt some decisions won't be what some fans want. The pressure will be raised higher with the move to the new stadium but I think realistically we need to be looking for a top 10 finish and maybe a flirt with the play off positions. Obviously a cup run will be beneficial all round.

Wide of the mark to suggest a managerial change, when they've kept us out of the relegation zone again.

We know that our season has faltered somewhat to what we were hoping for [finishing higher than we did last year and pushing for top 12] but it hasn't been all bad.

Waving a magic wand and getting us in the top ten and with a great cup run is a big ask with the squad we currently have, even with quality signings. As this pre season proved, when our new signings who were going to lead us to better, failed to live up to their hype. We can not take anything for granted.

Bakes and Unders will know that they're under pressure to achieve more than they have this season, next time out, so their choices of new players, and who they keep from this season's squad, will have to be shrewd moves, as next season won't be the time to under achieve, if we are to progress under their leadership, especially with a new stadium and trying to improve attendances and sponsorship.

Bakes and unders have done exactly as hoped got us up and kept us there. I personally think a management change would be a bad move and I have faith in them.

It was a very poor display and in my opinion (I know others differ) I thought we were soundly beaten. We didn't have a shot on target until about the 65 minute and there keeper only had to make one real save (from warren Harris) whereas scott made a few. I honestly can't see how anyone can say it was a close game. Or even how we were the better team for any of it. But I respect everyone's opinion I just can't agree with them this time.

My previous post says what I thought of yesterday but should elaborate on what several of us are saying about the need for personnel changes in the close season. Until the management know the budget for next season that will not be easy.......the budget surely cannot be fixed until Steve E knows for certain what the new ground will cost us in rent, whether we get some of the bar takings and other aspects. We know he will not be profligate like some other club chairmen/owners and will want to give Neil/Jon a realistic figure to work on so as to attract the best possible new players. They dont have to be big names(even for non league) and with right management and motivation, plus the pleasure of a new ground, maybe we can be the Leicester of our league next season.

A good post, Graham, you are right we cannot take anything for granted.

That said even if the budget is slightly improved on this season's one [ or not as the case may be] we need to address the issues that are plagueing our team at the moment.

Priority are strikers, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see this.  I would go as far as saying we need three new ones. Two of whom are natural predators in front of goal and can hold the ball up to bring others in the game and a third who has a change of pace and good footwork [perhaps someone who could also play as a winger at times].

This is not detrimental to Lee Barney or Scott Harris, as both could be retained. That would be 4 strikers with Lee to start the season. Hatchet is more of a utility player to me and shouldn't be classed as a striker.

As mentioned before, he is a valuable member of the squad as he is versatile in what he does.

Midfield needs an enforcer/leader type player to be added to it.

Strangely even though we have conceded a lot of soft goals from defensive lapses, we aren't far from getting it right at the back, so to me minimal changes need to be made there although I expect one new defender to arrive.

So all in all five changes of personnel should boost this squad. As we've lost Ed Smith and Charles Mpi, we are two players short anyway, so I don't expect there will be loads of departures in the new season, unless players get better offers from other clubs.

3Spirit a midfield enforcer he was in the bar but now retired oh for a Darren Wilkinson.

Those types seem to be getting less and less ,as the season's go by.

What about Tony Dell? Nicknamed 'Psycho' for obvious reasons ! That nickname did him a disservice, he should have been called 'Le Crunch' ! lol !

To be fair Wilko especially, and Tony, both played with their hearts on their sleeve and battled no matter what, whether they were losing or winning, and so players like these, lift morale of the players around them, as well as the fans.

Hence, why I think we could do with one.

Unfortunately I think the days of 'bone crunching' tacklers like Darren Wilkinson are over.

I think we need a holding midfielder like an Adrian Sear of a few years ago and a mobile playmaker to marshall the midfield and provide the creativity to our forwards.

Modern referreing doesn't allow those types of players to exist anymore.

The trouble is that refereeing has got worse with many referee's failing to see what a strong but fair challenge is. As proved at yesterday's match.

I agree that the game has moved on, and out and out thug mentality midfielders in football should be discouraged but football is a contact sport and strong challenges is part and parcel of our game which needs officiating properly.

There is still room in the team for 'the heart on the sleeve ball winner' regardless.
