Surely with regards to the budget and players, we could get some in now as it would be in the interest of the club to get players in for next season now and allow them to gel before the start of next season at a competitive level rather than wasting 1/3 games and risking dropping points in our new ground at the start of next season

Rebel1965 is alluding to whether the Chairman needs to change the management during the close season. I think the majority wouldn't agree with this (myself included) but I think we need more than 2 or 3 quality player additions. It'll be a tough summer deciding who to keep and let go and no doubt some decisions won't be what some fans want. The pressure will be raised higher with the move to the new stadium but I think realistically we need to be looking for a top 10 finish and maybe a flirt with the play off positions. Obviously a cup run will be beneficial all round.

Glen An additional problem may be that several ambitious players may decide to go regardless of the managers desire to keep them I agree we need a lot of quality new players during the close season we simply cant have another season when the summit of our ambitions is to avoid relegation Im very happy with our managers And people forget that at the start of last season the sum total of their experience at this level was zilch Theyve engaged with us on this forum and mostly given us reasons for things which have not gone as expected all that could ever be dragged out of Bateman was multiple excuses wiþh nothing ever down to him I wish them well for their recruiting over the summer Nothing other that success will bring the required crowds to the new ground Take a look at the league website apart from a few clubs relegated from a higher level only successful clubs are bringing in good support As far as our next game is concerned Chippenham are another club in freefall 1 win in8 games 1 place only above us in the form guide surely a chance to end this run?

RR you must be thinking of the wrong player. Preen scored the first, hit the post and somehow the ball didn't go in and got the assist for the second goal.

He was one of their best players.

SRJ, Preen got the first goal due to an horrendous defensive mistake.

Preen then hit the post when IMO it was easier to score.

As I said Preen in the second half was playing right where I was standing and he could hardly kick a ball straight. He might have played well in the first half but certainly not in the second.

Still, I thought we played OK today and the concensus of opinion seems to be that we didn't so what do I know?

Cedric, our managers have already said that the players they are after are all on contracts and so are not really approachable until the season ends.

Clive, these 'bad runs' happen in football especially at the end of a long season when there is nothing to play for points wise.

I might be wrong but didn't you say after the last game that none of the players were worth keeping?

I'm not sure what 'tough choices' Steve Easterbrook will have to make. Steve will work out a budget and it will be left to Bakes and Unders to get a squad together based on the budget they are given.

Yes, I was wrong Clive, you said 'very few players are worth keeping'

I'm still not clear what you mean by 'tough choices' for Steve Easterbrook though.

RR, so Preen reacting very quickly to score a good first goal which left Scott rooted to the spot and then hitting the post from a tough shot which bobbled in front of him with the ball only just not going in and then beating Fraser and Williams to put in a great low cross to give Draycot a tap in and the easiest goal he will score all season. Plus causing us loads of problems throughout the game is a bad performance.

I have no idea what our players did in comparison to make you think they did OK compared to Preen.

Utterly baffling!!!

Irish, not sure about the 'ambitious players' bit.

I'm not sure we can rely on your 'form guide' Irish, Chippenham still have everything to play for and have the leagues 1st and 4th top scorers in Sandell and Whitehead in their ranks.

Not baffling at all SRJ.

As I said he did capitalise on a poor defensive error but really cannot say how he performed in the rest of the first half but in the second half he played mostly right in front of me and for the main part, to put it kindly, IMO he wasn't very good. One decent cross, where again I thought we should have defended better, and one shot that hit the post was for me the highlights of his second half achievements.

As we always say SRJ it's all about opinions and we'll have to agree to differ on Mr Preen.

Hungerford also gave MOTM to Preen and said "Garyn Preen outstanding".

check their twitter

SRJ, I don't need to check their Twitter, I've given my opinion on his second half performance based upon what I saw in front of me, so why should I change my mind based upon what their twitter feed says?.

RR Not a form guide A totally accurate report of their last 8 results By ambitious players I mean players no longer prepared to play for a club they dont perceive to be able to bring them success either in league or cups

The way things are going on the pitch for us, the managers and the fans will be glad to see the end of the season.

It's certainly not what any of us wanted for the team, in how we are finishing the season and thankfully, we have enough points in the bag to not have to worry about relegation.

On the game today, for the first ten minutes we looked lethargic and hadn't got out the blocks. Luckily from the sidelines Bakes got into the players and livened them up a bit but try as we might, we seemed as though we had forgotten how to make openings in attack and a few players looked like they would rather not be out there, which is always a sign of a team on a bad run of results.

Even so I thought Hungerford were lucky to go in at half time one goal up.

The pitch was bobbly and so both sides struggled to play passing football but even with our full backs committing to comical defending for their goals, I still thought we weren't out of the game but our lack of shots and creative endeavour made Hungerford look like world-beaters.

Our substitutions were a big positive in how we were playing and finally bought about some decent moves, even if it was to no avail regarding the result.

Adam New looks a great find.

Lee Barney and Gary Gokman did make a big difference by bringing urgency to our play, and by pushing Jhai Dhillon further forward it helped our attacking momentum.

With the Chippenham match coming next I hope we have a shake up and try a few new incumbents to take the starting positions of a couple of the regular players in the team and move one or two to positions which will be effective to our general attacking play , as we are looking flat and stale of ideas at the moment.

not a great deal in it in terms of general play but it was same old story for us recently.

bitterly disappointing that both goals came within 10 seconds or so of us having a shot or having sustained time of possession in and around their box. lots of huffing and puffing but unfortunately until the very end of the 2nd half I never felt we were going to score.

not going to pretend I know why we have been so bad in front of goal recently but we can't just keep saying we are unlucky. we have barely scored a goal and have only 2 points from the last 6 games. lost for words as to how to work out why we don't seem to even look like we are going to get shots away and test the keeper. even games we have decent amount of chances we don't take advantage

2 games in a few weeks with Hungerford where personally I don't think Hungerford have played that great (effective but not outstanding) against us and yet their keeper has made 2 maybe 3 saves over the 2 games and not been tested properly at all that I can remember.

trying to not be too negative but today has really riled me. infuriating that it was yet again same old story for us.  :( so frustrating

Poor today outfought out thought and out played. Struggled to find a man of the match as we were dominated in every department. Tempted to call that a day for this season after a 2 1/2 hour m25 drive home. Absolutely not worth the journey today.

I know you had a long journey Marcus and must of been pi##ed off but to say we were outfought, out played and dominated in every department is simply not correct.

We were slow to start the first 10 minutes but for the rest of the first half we more than matched a team that are in a play-off position.

Second half again we were not as bad as you are suggesting. Ok Hungerford were the better team especially in chances created but we didn't give up and battled away without creating chances of any note.

Everyone knows we are struggling to create and score at the moment but in general play the players are giving it a go and not lying down the way that we did at the back end of last season.

We weren't very good, lots of effort that was nullified by a tight resolute opposition that took advantage of our first half mistake to take the lead against the run of play. There was no coming back from that sad to say and the result was probably what I expected to be honest.

This is how Hungerford have played against us since we were promoted and we don't seem to have an answer to it irrespective of personnel. Pretty sure we could play like that if we needed to pick up points, however we gave it a go and got turned over yet again by a team that needed the 3 points more than us.

As for next season I expect there to be a stronger team, better football on the 3G season long and am hopeful of a higher finish together with better crowds and a vibrancy that comes with being back in Slough at the new ground. Looking forward also to drinks/food in our own bar, TV footy before and/or after our game.

Something to be positive about, can't wait!!
