OldTowner
Thinking ahead for next season, should we not be bringing in Assombolonga from Wabby, NOW. He is scoring goals for fun. You just know some Club will snap him up. Surely now is the time to start reviewing next season's squad to ensure we start "early" rather than the slowness of this season's start, which would appear to have lost us a play off slot. Forward planning. Now.
thecoldend
Word on the street is he will move to Dagenham and Redbridge in the summer. Classic John Still signing.
thecoldend
He is also on contract as W.Abbey so would command a big (ish) fee something Enfield Town haven't got...
OldTowner
Fair enough if D & R have done the deed. Shows my instinct was right then !!!! As for contract and fees etc, not sure there would be too much as it all relates to his "current pay deal" and I cannot see how Wabby could pay him "that much" !! 4wembleyfinals
I have not seen them but if Harlow or Cheshunt don't make the play offs or fail to get through them, does anyone have any idea about Jason Hewitt (Cheshunt) leading league North Goal scorer with 33 goals (only 1pen.) and Alex Read at Harlow on 26 Goals and last years top scorer. They both seem to know where the net is. Since the former is just down the road presumably he has been watched.
OldTowner
Understand we went down the Alex Read road this pre-season and he refused to join, so I would be surprised if Brad would try again. As, I think, was George Purcell ( Hornchurch ) Hallett, ( cheshunt ) has surely been watched ?? Few scorers out there !!!!!!!!!
lovely stuff
Got to be slightly careful with players in the league below that score lots of goals.Liam Hope for example has always been prolific at one step below the premier league, but his goals dried up somewhat when playing against the better defender of the top half teams in the premier. Also these teams mentioned are not doing that great in their respective leagues, even with these 'crack' strikers. Footycrazy
If by miracle Enfield are in play-offs wont the mgt be going out there to sign more defenders than goal scorers for next sason?..quite a few athletic full-backs in the leagues below... and some cent backs that their clubs dont go up may like a 'change'.... lovely stuff
If we keep the current squad and play 4 at the back next season then I can see Lockie/Kirby/Vilcu being the backbone of a strong defence..With central cover from H.Joseph/Stanley.Plus Gabriel/Stevens vying for the left back spot..With Tyler and Samir available if we play the wing back system.I would suggest that we only need one more addition at the back. What we need to do is have consistent selection policy in that area and play a settled system. 4wembleyfinals
Word has it that Stevens has fallen out with management. Not a surprise when you consider how he has been overlooked on many occasions. As for StanM I return to my very first tirade and suggest that his position is one where we should seek an improvement. I think that the return of Kirbs shows what we have been missing.
