Vs Kettering

I think we played a different formation but none of us could work it out. Be interesting to find out what it was.

Only one team was going to win this game and it could have been by more than the 1-0 which it ended.

Putman played up front but seemed angry for some reason and was lucky not to get sent off and wasn't surprising he was subbed at half time. He kicked one of their players about five yards away from the ball which thankfully the officials missed.

We never really looked like scoring and our best chance came from a free kick. Can't remember their keeper having a save to make.

Seems Putts was subbed at half time due to an injury to his back.

You cannot fault the effort of the players, they have kept going in every game, and I honestly believe that we have become better defensively in the last half a dozen games.  Unfortunately we have not had the luck up front and even the best defences will start to creak when the ball isn't held up up front (whether or not you create chances from it).  Yesterday I was very impressed with Adam New and Guy Hollis, especially second half when we were very much up against it.  In previous seasons that kind of game would have been lost by a lot more.  We struggled in the second half to hold the ball in their half but still created a couple of decent chances late on and did well to keep Kettering out at the other end with the exception of a great finish.

Tough games to come but we should be able to pick up a few more points.  The priority this season was to stay in the league ahead of going into our new ground next season, and that is what we have done.

I think there's no doubt that we have tightened up defensively in recent games, it's unfortunate that it's coincided with the goals having dried up.

Most sensible supporters top priority would have been to stay in the premier division ahead of next seasons move.
