Closing date for ground grading 31st March

Recommended Posts

So who of the premier clubs wanting to go up have got their ground up to the grade required other than Dunstable.

Hoddesdon, London Colney and Hertford applied.

Hertford haven't a chance to go up.

Hoddesdon were talking a good game when we last played them.

I cant imagine London Colney have completed the groundworks required.

Anyone know the answer?

I have it on good authority that even if Hoddesdon win the league they will NOT go up. This is because they are unable to meet the FA's Ground Grading requirements, due to the lease they hold with the cricket club. So I would think, in answer to your question, that it is between London Colney and AFC Dunstable.

I'm surprised we haven't been referred to Lord Merton of Hoddesdon for an insider's view.

So why are they doing all the building work if they knew the lease was a problem. You supply that sort of information when you apply not when they visit.

I'd be very surprised if Roger was spending money unnecessarily...

I'll just leave this here and not mention the fact that several clubs at our level haven't even applied for promotion so if there's a gap . . .

Can I also not mention how much I'm loving cricket right now please?

Likewise Monkey, hope it's a great derby game, both sides play to their best and we can all have a friendly beer together after.

It's only footie after all and rivalries and banter aside, I really like most of the Hoddy guys and (hate to admit it but) really respect the turnaround over there this season & will welcome you all with open arms as usual.

I think I might have just done a bit of sick in my mouth . . .

Anyway, look forward to seeing you all on Saturday!

PS. Pack a rainproof jacket, Bank Holiday weather strikes again after three weeks of nearly no rain whatsoever!

As of right now, Berko, Dunstable and Hertford are the only teams with the required grade to go up.

Colney aren't looking like getting anywhere near it. Hoddy are working hard towards it.

So it all depends on whether the relevant authorities appreciate the effort or if they'll be as flexible as a steel rod...

If they are, and the talk of 2 up I've been hearing lately (thought it was only 1 myself), could be a very unexpectedly important battle for 4th place.

Personally don't think it's good for clubs to go up like that. Though there's still a long way and a lot more twists in the tale to go yet.
